Prevent Fires: Keep EV Charging at the Stations

ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) CHARGING:

For your safety and the safety of your home, please do not charge electric vehicles inside residential units or garages. EV charging at home is in violation of the lease agreement. Attempting to charge an EV at home will strain the home's electrical circuits, greatly increasing the risk of fire, power outages, or other serious hazards.

To ensure your vehicle is charged safely and efficiently, we encourage you to use designated charging stations in the area. These stations are designed to handle the electrical demands of EVs and provide proper protections.

🗑️ Quarterly Rumpke Bulk Pick-Up Day

Rumpke will be providing curbside bulk item pick-up for our community. 30 September 2025

Please review the guidelines below to ensure your items are collected:

  • One (1) bulk item per unit may be placed curbside for pick-up.
  • Items must comply with Rumpke’s bulk removal guidelines.
  • Upholstered items (such as mattresses, box springs, couches, and chairs) must be fully wrapped in plastic—covering all sides, including front, back, top, and bottom.
  • Not Accepted: construction materials, chemicals, paints, batteries, tires, explosive items, or large appliances.
  • Outside of the quarterly bulk pick-up, residents may dispose of large items using the roll-off dumpsters located at the maintenance building.
  • Residents with multiple bulk items may contact Rumpke’s Haul It Away Service. Additional charges apply and must be paid directly to Rumpke.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community clean and safe!

🚨 Stay Alert: Protect Your Vehicle from Theft🚨

Security Forces responded to a vehicle theft, as well as theft from vehicles, within our base housing areas over this past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, these types of occurrences are notoriously hard to deter and have been very common throughout the Dayton area.

Although some vehicles have had windows broken to gain access, individuals are primarily targeting unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and parking areas to steal keys, cash, and other valuables left inside the vehicles. Stolen vehicles are often recovered in the Dayton area.

The Prairies and The Woods communities are being targeted, and all housing spaces and RV storage areas are at potential risk for thieves.

Security Forces are working closely with base and local law enforcement partners to identify and apprehend those responsible. However, we need your help:

  • Always lock your vehicle – even when parked at home.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including spare keys.
  • Stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Your awareness and cooperation are critical to preventing further incidents in our community!

If you see anything suspicious or have information related to recent thefts, please contact the Base Defense Operations Section at (937) 257-6516.

Striping Parking Areas in The Prairies

Beginning on Wednesday, September 24 (weather permitting), we will be striping the parking spaces in The Prairies parking lots. This will continue until all designated areas are complete.

The parking lots on the North side of Access Road along the 5700-5800 blocks of Access Road will be temporarily unavailable on Wednesday, 24 September while striping is in progress.

The E-24 and E-25 parking lots at the 5700-5800 blocks of Access Road will be striped on Thursday, 25 September. These areas will be temporarily unavailable for the day while striping is in progress.

On Friday, 26 September, the E-02, E-22, E-23, E-25 parking lots on Gross Drive and the parking lot in front of 5781-5835 Gross Drive will be striped. These areas will be temporarily unavailable for the day while striping is in progress.

Residents and contractors must avoid parking in these areas until the project is finished.

We’ll share additional locations in next week's newsletter! Upon completion of work in The Prairies, we will begin resurfacing and restriping the basketball and tennis courts in The Woods.

Thank you for your cooperation!

🐾 Please Do Not Feed Stray Cats🐾

We kindly remind all residents not to feed stray cats within the community. While it may seem helpful, feeding stray animals can create unintended problems such as:

  • Increased population of stray and feral cats.
  • Property damage and disturbances caused by roaming animals.
  • Health and safety concerns for both residents and pets.

If you notice stray cats in the area, please refrain from providing food or shelter. Instead, notify the leasing office so we can take the appropriate steps to address the situation responsibly.

Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming community for everyone.

🔒 Shed Lock Reminder – Legacy Project

As part of the Legacy Project, we kindly remind all residents that locks must be removed from sheds. We’ve had several instances where locks were left in place, which has required additional time and resources to have them removed.

To help keep the project on schedule and avoid unnecessary delays, please make sure any locks on your shed are promptly removed.

We truly appreciate your cooperation in making this process smooth for everyone!

The Woods - Driveway Repaving Project

This project is being completed by Vandalia Blacktop, a trusted PWF-contracted vendor, and is part of our ongoing efforts to improve both safety and curb appeal in the neighborhood.

What to Expect:

In preparation for paving, you may see PWF staff and contractors in the area performing the following tasks:

  • Removing tree roots
  • Relocating or removing downspouts that may interfere with the repaving process

Before work begins in your driveway:

  • Each resident will be notified individually.

Important Parking Notice:

Once the work begins in your driveway:

  • You will not be able to park in your driveway or garage for approximately 4 to 5 days
  • Temporary "No Parking" zones will be posted and updated daily - please ensure your vehicle is not parked in these areas during active construction. Please refrain from parking in any driveways that are currently under construction or in cul-de-sacs.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. During this time, some residents may need to temporarily park near or in front of your home. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Accessibility Needs:

If someone in your household has mobility needs or requires driveway access, please contact the maintenance office once you receive your phase notification letter. We'll make every effort to accommodate you.

Thank you for your support as we work to improve and beautify your community!

Courtyard Sign Lighting Upgrades - Prairies Legacy

A PWF-contracted vendor will soon begin upgrading the lighting on the courtyard address signs for the Legacy housing neighborhoods. A licensed electrician will be on-site to complete the rewiring and installation of the new fixtures.

For your safety, please use caution when passing by the work areas near the courtyard signs.

Thank you for your awareness and cooperation as we enhance your community!
