CenterPoint Energy Annual Gas Leak Survey

CenterPoint Energy technicians, under contract with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, will be surveying all gas lines in housing areas over the next few weeks. Work hours will be Monday-Thursday between 8:00am-3:00pm. The dates below are weather-permitting:

  • Surveying in The Woods housing area will begin the Week of 25 August.
  • Surveying in The Prairies housing area will begin the Week of 25 August and continue through the Week of 1 September.
  • There will be up to four technicians performing this activity with CenterPoint Energy employees on stand-by for emergency response if needed.
  • All technicians will be wearing safety vests and vehicles are marked accordingly.
  • The work should only require the technicians to access the outside of your home up to the gas meter.
  • Inside access will be required if a leak is found and requires inside investigation. In this situation emergency response protocols are in place with the fire department for their immediate response.
  • Weather permitting, all work should be completed by the week of 8 September.

Please make sure these technicians have access to your gas meter. If applicable, please remove the locks from your gate the week(s) the technicians are scheduled to work. Please make sure to pick up after your animals and look before you let your pet outside to make sure the technicians are not currently working in your yard.

Should you have any questions about this survey, please contact Maintenance Customer Service by email at maintenance@wpafbhomes.com or by phone at 937-253-3488, option 3.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience & understanding.

Hard Surface Restoration in The Woods

CenterPoint Energy has started the next phase of their project for The Woods. Starting Wednesday, 20 August you will notice crews from CenterPoint Energy or Miller Pipeline begin their hard surface restoration. The streets affected by this will include Dupont, Picket, Halleck, Sykes, and Welcome.

As work progresses on this project, traffic management will be in effect, and some areas may have restricted access. Full access and regular traffic patterns will be restored once the project is finished. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to improve the infrastructure in our community.

Be A Neighborhood Representative!

Wright Patt is looking for volunteers to be neighborhood representatives for the Resident Council!

Members must be active duty or their spouse. The neighborhood representative will work with privatized housing (PWF), the military housing office (MHO), the resident advocate, and meet quarterly with Wing Leadership. Interested persons may contact Wendy Johnson at Wendy.Johnson@us.af.mil, for more information.

Disposal Safety Reminders

As summer celebrations continue, help us protect our workers and first responders by following these guidelines:

  • Batteries: should NOT be placed in curbside containers – ever! They easily ignite and explode when compacted in the truck.

  • Empty Propane Tanks: should never go in the trash or recycling. Take empty tanks back to stores to be refilled.

  • Charcoal Embers and Fireworks should be thoroughly soaked in water prior to placing them in the garbage. Never throw away unused fireworks—contact your local fire department for proper disposal.

  • Pool Chemicals are highly reactive, generate extreme temperatures and release toxic vapors if improperly handled or stored. Don’t place pool chemicals in the trash or recycling. Contact your solid waste district for disposal options.

Infrastructure Upgrades in The Woods

Great News! American Water and Associated Hydro are still in progress.

Please be aware that traffic control measures will be in place, and some areas may continue to have limited access. Normal traffic flow will resume once the work is complete.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as these vital improvements are completed to strengthen and modernize the neighborhood's infrastructure.

The Woods - Upcoming Driveway Repaving Project

This project is being completed by Vandalia Blacktop, a trusted PWF-contracted vendor, and is part of our ongoing efforts to improve both safety and curb appeal in the neighborhood.

What to Expect:

In preparation for paving, you may see PWF staff and contractors in the area performing the following tasks:

  • Removing tree roots
  • Relocating or removing downspouts that may interfere with the repaving process

Before work begins in your driveway:

  • Each resident will be notified individually.

Important Parking Notice:

Once the work begins in your driveway:

  • You will not be able to park in your driveway or garage for approximately 4 to 5 days
  • Temporary "No Parking" zones will be posted and updated daily - please ensure your vehicle is not parked in these areas during active construction. Please refrain from parking in any driveways that are currently under construction or in cul-de-sacs.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. During this time, some residents may need to temporarily park near or in front of your home. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Accessibility Needs:

If someone in your household has mobility needs or requires driveway access, please contact the maintenance office once you receive your phase notification letter. We'll make every effort to accommodate you.

Thank you for your support as we work to improve and beautify your community!

Courtyard Sign Lighting Upgrades - Prairies Legacy

A PWF-contracted vendor will soon begin upgrading the lighting on the courtyard address signs for the Legacy housing neighborhoods. A licensed electrician will be on-site to complete the rewiring and installation of the new fixtures.

For your safety, please use caution when passing by the work areas near the courtyard signs.

Thank you for your awareness and cooperation as we enhance your community!

WPAFB Gate Closed to Outbound Traffic

Gate 19B will be closed to outbound traffic from 23 June 2025 through 26 September 2025. During this period, it will be open for inbound traffic only from 0600 to 0900, Monday through Friday. The attached form below shows you the traffic flow of Gate 19B during this time. Gate 22B will remain open 24 hours a day throughout this time to support traffic flow.

Traffic Flow at Gate 19B

For safety reasons, the playground located at Longstreet and Vandorn Lanes is temporarily closed and will remain inaccessible until further notice.

WPAFB has begun construction in the area, extending from the entrance of Longstreet Lane to the existing green fence. This work will include the installation of temporary fencing, and contractors will require access to the backyards of homes along this route.

In the coming weeks, base personnel or affiliated contractors will conduct site investigations of the storm sewer system in your neighborhood as a result of recently discovered soil erosion. As a precaution, fencing has been installed in specific areas and signage placed for the safety of residents. Monitoring of the system will continue, and additional fencing will be installed as needed to ensure resident safety.

We understand this may cause some inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as this essential safety project is completed.
