🚨 Stay Alert: Protect Your Vehicle from Theft🚨

Security Forces continue to actively patrol and have recently responded to an incidents in The Prairies and The Woods housing areas, including thefts from vehicles and vehicle thefts. These types of crimes are not isolated to our community - they are occurring throughout the Dayton area and across Ohio.

While some individuals have broken windows to gain access to vehicles, most incidents involve thieves targeting unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and parking areas. Keys, cash, and personal belongings left inside vehicles are the primary items being stolen. In most cases, stolen vehicles have been later recovered off-base in the Dayton area.

The Prairies and The Woods communities are being targeted, and all housing spaces and RV storage areas are at potential risk for thieves.

Security Forces are working closely with base partners and local law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible. Your vigilance is essential to help reduce these incidents.

How you can help:

  • Always lock your vehicle – even when parked at home.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including spare keys.
  • Stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Your awareness and cooperation play a vital role in protecting our community!

If you see anything suspicious or have information related to recent thefts, please contact the Base Defense Operations Section at (937) 257-6516.

SNOW REMOVAL POLICIES & PROCEDURES

With winter weather approaching, please keep the following in mind:

  • Residents are responsible for clearing snow from driveways, porches, and sidewalks within 50 feet of their home.

  • Please avoid parking on roadways during active snowfall. This helps our team clear streets more efficiently and safely.

  • Street parking may resume once snow removal is complete and roads have been fully cleared.

Gas Line and Fence Replacement Updates for Legacy Homes

The gas line and fencing projects for The Prairies Legacy homes are wrapping up for the season and will resume in the spring. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as these improvements continue.

For residents who have received new privacy fencing, please note that wooden slats may produce splinters. If you notice excessive splintering, contact Maintenance so we can address it promptly. We also ask that gates be closed gently and that you avoid forcing the locking mechanisms closed - this helps keep the gates in good condition.

If your gate is not latching properly or you experience any issues, please submit a maintenance request. Addressing concerns early helps prevent damage and potential resident charges.

A friendly reminder for the fencing project: locks must be removed from sheds while work is being performed. Leaving locks or hanging items in place creates delays and requires additional time and resources for our team to remove them. To keep the project on schedule, please ensure all personal items and locks are removed before work begins.

Thank you for helping us maintain these improvements and keep the project running smoothly!

🔧 Furnace Filters & Cold-Weather Prep

With this week's chilly temperatures, many of you are turning on the heat! Help us keep your system running safely and efficiently by changing your furnace filter every 30 days.

Fresh filters improve air quality, reduce strain on your system, and help lower energy costs.

Free supplies at the Self-Help Store include:

  • ✅ Furnace filters
  • 🔋 Batteries for smoke detectors and thermostats
  • 💡 Light bulbs
  • 🔧 Plus other common home-care items

If you’re unsure which filter size you need, check the label on your current filter or your furnace panel. You can take it with you for exchange or take a photo!

We also recommend writing the date the filter is changed on the side panel of the filter so you don't have to guess when it was last changed!

If your system isn’t heating properly after changing the filter, please contact Maintenance.

Thank you for helping keep our homes safe and comfortable!

Upcoming PWF Events!

💚 A Message from the Grinch Himself… 💚

Residents of Whoville—

cough cough …It’s me, the Grinch.

I regret to inform you that I will NOT be slithering around PWF this year. 🤒💚

Apparently even a Grinch can catch a little… holiday cheer sickness.

Disgusting, I know. 🤧😂

BUT DON’T GET TOO JOLLY ABOUT MY ABSENCE!

Because while I’m stuck in bed glaring at ornaments,

Santa and Mrs. Claus will STILL be showing up to spread their annoyingly joyful Christmas spirit. 🎅🏽🤶🏽✨

So, enjoy your cookies, your hot cocoa, and your twinkly lights…

I’ll be back next year to steal them all. 😉

Signed,

The Grinch 💚

— currently sick, grumpy, and highly allergic to Christmas joy 🎄😤
