This Week In Worship
To Prepare For Worship:
Pastor’s Prayer Partners Petitions
Pray Like Hannah
Hannah had a wonderful prayer life. Read about it in I Samuel, chapter 1. Hannah was childless. She longed to have a child. So she prayed. She called out to the Lord, O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life .
Did you catch that? Hannah asks for something and offers something. Hannah asks for a son, so she can dedicate him to the Lord.
When I ask the Lord for something, I note that it is usually for my best interest. I ask for things that will make me feel better, perform better, live better. Nothing wrong with that, however, Hannah demonstrates to us that the reason we would ask for things to better ourselves is that we could then better serve the Lord.
Our prayers should have the ending of giving God service and glory, even when we are asking things for ourselves.
So go ahead. Ask for whatever you desire. But, do it with the Lord in mind. Ask, so that you may be better positioned to serve Him, honor Him and praise Him.
Thanks for your partnership,
Pastor Raasch
  PRAYING FOR YOURSELF
Reflect on what is on your heart and mind and take it to God in prayer.

Is there something we can pray about for you?
Praying for One Another
  • Muriel Going, Genevieve Anschuetz, Sonia Buhrow, Aiden Last, Lois Bublitz, Hope Kittel, Dee Lewis and Lois Jung, as they contend with ongoing health issues. Ask the Lord to grant healing and strength for the body and peace and joy for the soul.
  • Chad Plater and his family as they mourn the passing of Chad’s mother. Pray for the Lord’s peace to provide comfort at this time of loss.
  • Pastor Joel Brandt, a young husband and father who grew up in our congregation and is battling cancer. Pray for miracles, effective treatments and peace of heart and mind.
PRAYING FOR FIL MINISTRIES & OTHERS

Our “Better Men” day retreat. As we prepare for the first “Better Men” conference, which will be conducted at First Immanuel on Saturday, November 2, pray that the Lord would bless our preparations, guide our presenters and encourage many men to attend.

Our Mission of the Month, Operation Christmas Child , a ministry of “Samaritan’s Purse.” Operation Christmas Child provides gifts and the Gospel message to children in more than 100 countries around the world. Each shoebox gift can bring Good News and great joy to a child in need and their family.

MISSION OF THE MONTH
Operation Christmas Child
Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered shoebox gifts packed by caring people like you to more than 113 million children around the world. A shoebox filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies tangibly demonstrates God’s Love to a child in need. First Immanuel is excited to collaborate with Samaritan’s Purse again this year through Operation Christmas Child.

Empty shoeboxes, packing labels, and packing instructions will be available in the Narthex areas at both First Immanuel and River of Life. Packing a box is easy and fun! Grab your family and friends, REACHGroup, teammates, or neighbors and follow these simple steps:

1.   GET A SHOEBOX: Pick up an unfolded shoebox from the table in the Narthex or purchase a shoebox-sized plastic container. The plastic containers actually become a part of the gift.
2.   BOY OR GIRL? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Stickers to label your box are available on the table in the Narthex.
3.   FILL WITH GIFTS: Select a quality “wow” toy such as a doll, ball with pump, book, or stuffed animal. Then add other fun toys (yo-yo, jump rope, toy car, chalk); non-liquid hygiene items (toothbrushes, combs, washcloths, bar soap); school supplies (crayons, coloring books, markers, pens, pencils & sharpeners, calculators); and accessories (hats, sunglasses, t-shirts, socks, flashlights with batteries).
4.   PRAY: Pray for the child who will receive your box. Consider sending a personal card, picture of your family, or a drawing from a child.
5.   SHIPPING COST: Each box costs $9 to ship. Place a check inside of your box ( made out to Samaritan’s Purse ) or donate online to follow your box as it reaches its final destination.
6.    DROP OFF: Bring your box to church by Sunday, November 17 so we are able to ship the boxes off during NATIONAL COLLECTION WEEK NOV 18-25. OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS ONE THOUSAND BOXES!

Every shoebox gift you pack helps Samaritan’s Purse to reach children worldwide with the good news of God’s love and the true meaning of Christmas!

STEPHEN MINISTRY MOMENT
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.” Matthew 18:20 In Matthew 18, Jesus promises to be with us. That is one of the great miracles of Stephen Ministry. When a Stephen Minister meets one-on-one with a care receiver, Jesus is present too. He brings the power of his transforming love and the peace, healing and comfort that only God can give. If you are going through a difficult time and would like the caring presence and prayers of a Stephen Minister or if you are aware of another person’s need, contact Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610. Please remember to ask permission before referring another person.
