Remembering
Today American’s pause to remember the tragic events of 9/11. Our lives were disrupted with the shocking images of destruction. We couldn’t comprehend that human beings could be so violent and disregard the sanctity of life.
Our remembering goes beyond the events of that day. Our remembering is more about those whose lives were lost. Average citizens went to work that morning, never expecting what was about to unfold. We remember first responders who gave little regard to their own safety, but laid down their lives for others.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends,” said Jesus. The one who spoke these words would provide the greatest sacrifice of all. Jesus willingly stepped into our world and into our lives to rescue people who are terrorized by sin and death and the devil.
Remembering the sacrifice of Jesus must be a daily occurrence, not simply a once-a-year, Good Friday, event. Each time we sin, we remember Jesus is our forgiveness.  Each time we are frightened by the challenges of life, Jesus is our comfort. The day we close our eyes in death, we remember that Jesus, by His resurrection, has defeated our grace and gives to us and all who believe in Him the gift of heaven.
This is the truth we will never forget!

Thanks for your partnership,
Pastor Raasch

STEPHEN MINISTRY MOMENT
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 The Stephen Ministry logo consists of a cross with a broken person and a whole person. What does this logo mean? The broken person behind the cross symbolizes the brokenness of our lives due to our sin and imperfections. The whole person stands in front of the cross because it is only through Jesus that we are made whole. The wholeness symbolizes the wholeness we receive through Christ and God’s unending love for us. We are all both “broken” and “whole”—sinners and saints—who need to hear and be reminded of God’s love for us. Please call Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610 to request a Stephen Minister’s care. The care receiver does not need to be a member of First Immanuel or River of Life.
