Holy Stroll

Bayou Marcus Birding Trail

Saturday, May 2

9:00 am

All are invited to join St. Christopher's Creation Care Community (CCC) for a morning stroll on a segment of the ECUA's Bayou Marcus Birding Trail in west Pensacola on May 2nd. We'll walk a nice and peaceful segment of the newly rebuilt boardwalk over the wetlands and through the forest from the Alekai Drive entrance (not the main entrance). The boardwalk is mostly shaded in the morning, and birds and other wildlife should be more active early. Since all of this stroll is on the boardwalk, any comfortable shoes will do, and because it was rebuilt with that recycled plastic TREX simulated wood, no splinters! This is an easy hike, with essentially no elevation gain once on the boardwalk, and we expect to spend about 1 to 1.5 hours and cover about 1 to 1.5 miles. We will start roughly in the middle from Alekai; for those who want to go further the whole roundtrip is about 3 miles.

There are no facilities available at this location, so otherwise come prepared, with water, snacks, hat, binoculars or whatever you would like to bring.

Let’s meet in the parking lot off of Alekai Drive, at this location: https://www.google.com/maps/place

[The coordinates are 30.444496, -87.332629]

So that we know you are planning to join us, or IF we had to cancel due to adverse weather, please text or call Ad Platt at 850-982-8480, Margaret Platt at 850-384-3345, or email Margaret at mag.platt22@gmail.com.

Hope to see you there!

Guest Priest this Weekend!

The Rev. Walt Kindergan will lead us in all three worship services this weekend as Rev. Jen and Bp. George will be away. Please welcome back Fr. Walt!

Brief Bio about Fr. Walt:

Walt+ is retired after serving several churches in Pensacola. He was the associate rector here at St. Christopher’s from 2015 to 2017. Walt+ spent a thirty-year career in the U.S. Navy as a meteorologist. After Naval service, he taught school for a couple of years and then worked in federal civil service, before attending seminary prior to ordination. He is married to Becky and they have four grown sons.

Faith Forum

Be sure to come this Sunday, May 3, as we begin our 3 part series presented by Deacon Clelia Pinza-Garrity. 9:10 am in the Homer Davis Conference Room.

Deacon Clelia will present The Book of Ruth - A Story of Borders and Belonging, May 3, 10, and 17. All are welcome!

Blessing Bags

Supplies are needed for the Blessing Bag ministry. Small toiletries, non perishable food items and snacks, and bottled water are just a few helpful ideas. Please bring your donations to the office Mon-Thurs 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, or to Saturday and Sunday church services.

This Sunday, May 3, is a bag packing work day. Following the 10:30 am service in the Conference Room, all are welcome to join and pack bags to be distributed to the unhoused in our city.

For more information, contact Cathy Paulsen.

Children & Youth News

Children's News

Notes from Alice Ann Ferguson

Children and Families Minister

This week in Godly Play we are listening to and wondering about the story Knowing Jesus in a New Way, part three. Please bring your kiddos by 10:15 am at the latest, as our StoryTellers need plenty of time to share this weekend's story about the disciple Thomas.

VBS is coming June 1-5, 2026!!

I’m still seeking and praying for ADULT and TEEN volunteers for our upcoming VBS. Since our VBS is open to the greater Pensacola community, teens will earn service points for their service time.

It is VBS registration time! Register here! QR codes will also be available on the bulletin board, and outside each Godly Play classroom this weekend.
