City Commission Meeting Recap

The City Commission reviewed a variety of agenda items during the Regular Meeting on Tuesday, December 10. Their approvals paved the way for capital improvement projects, set the City's priorities for seeking State funding to support City projects, and approved the process for honoring a longtime Cooper City Optimist Club volunteer.

Special Recognition Meeting

City Commission presents proclamation to the family of Karen Rodgers in honor of her decades of support and volunteerism with the Cooper City Optimist Club.

Proclamation is presented in support of Rick Case Automotive Group's "Bikes for Kids" program.

The City Commission recognizes Commissioners Donald Cris Fardelmann and Massimo "Max" Pulcini for their efforts while serving on the Board of Commissioners for the Central Broward Water Control District.

The City Commission recognizes Dr. Kem Hussain, Allan Baksh, Nadeer Khan, and Dr. Husman Khan for their outstanding contributions to furthering the mission and goals of Nur-Ul-Islam for the past 25 years in Cooper City.

An emotional recognition as Sasha Milan, Cristy Monroe, and Justin Stewart were honored for their life-saving efforts.


In October 2024, they took quick action and administered CPR and utilized an AED to help save the life of Robert Starkman, who had suffered heart failure and collapsed, after attending his granddaughter’s softball game at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex. Sasha, Cristy, and Justin are credited with saving Mr. Starkman’s life. Doctors later telling the family he had less than a 10% chance of survival.

Recognition of Helise Gailboord, who was named the Gutterman Family Outstanding Holocaust Educator of 2024.

Citizen Observer Patrol Appreciation

Our BSO Cooper City District hosted its annual Citizen Observer Patrol (COP) Appreciation Dinner this week to honor the volunteer service and partnership that these outstanding community members provide. As of November 30, 2024, COP members have provided 2,423 patrol hours this year. If based on an average deputy's salary, this equates to $167,394.02 of volunteer service in assisting the public safety efforts of our BSO Cooper City District.

COP of the Year Award and Most Service Hours Award


Congratulations to John Simpson! John has provided more than 700 hours of volunteer service, the most by any COP member in 2024.

Above & Beyond Award


Congratulations to Andrew Gross on being recognized this year for going above and beyond. He shows up early and is the last to leave. He takes on extra assignments and gives his all to every event and project.

Wolf Pack Award


Congratulations to Ken Spielvogel and Bob Brewster on receiving the Wolf Pack Award. They operate as a pack and are committed to patrolling the city on their bikes. This year, they have biked 1,087 miles.

Dual Role Award - Parking Enforcement


Congratulations to Allan Snapp, Ram Mohan, and Elliot Kaliser on being recognized for taking on dual roles. They serve as COP volunteers and parking enforcement . This year, they wrote 136 citations.

Mentorship Award


Congratulations to Mike Houser and Pedro Arroyo on receiving the Mentorship Award. This award recognizes COPs who have demonstrated outstanding mentorship by dedicating time, knowledge, and energy for the purposes of guiding, nurturing, and supporting other COPs.


Foundation Award


Congratulations to Allan Snapp, Andrew Gross, John Simpson, Pedro Arroyo, Mike Houser, Mary Lathrop, Sue Thackston, Ken Spielvogel, and Bob Brewster for always being there when called upon. From patrols to training and events, these individuals, make up the foundation of our COP team.

Traffic Advisory

Upcoming Closure on Westbound Stirling Road at Hiatus Road

Cooper City's Utilities Department will be overseeing a manhole repair at the intersection of Stirling Road and Hiatus Road. The project will be conducted in two phases, requiring lane closures along the westbound lanes of Stirling Road on December 17 through December 23, 2024.


Eastbound lanes will not be affected during this project.

Holiday Movie with a TWIST

Registration is Open

Bring family and friends to enjoy a Holiday Movie...WITH A TWIST! During the movie, participants will have the option to use their creativity and paint their favorite holiday canvas. Movie viewing is open for all if not interested in the painting portion.

Menorah Lighting on December 30th!

All are invited to join us as we celebrate the joy of Hanukkah with a Menorah Lighting in Memorial Park. Our Parks and Recreation Department will have activities for children, before and after the lighting ceremony. Light refreshments will also be provided.

Step into a Fitness Routine


The Cooper City Fitness Center is located at the Pool and Tennis Center located at 11600 Stonebridge Parkway within the Rock Creek community. An individual annual gym membership starts at only $85.60 for seniors (age 62+). An individual annual membership for Cooper City residents, age 14-61, is $139.10.

Vacation Home Watch Program


Did you know the Broward Sheriff's Office Cooper City District has a free Home Watch Program?


With this program, a deputy will check your home regularly while you are away. An exterior check of your home will be conducted to make sure there have been no unlawful entries and that no other obvious problems have occurred outside of your home. To sign up for this FREE service, please sign up online.

My Safe Florida Home


The My Safe Florida Home Program offers eligible home owners the opportunity to make an application for a wind mitigation home inspection free of charge by the State.

Fingerprinting Services


The BSO Cooper City District is now providing complimentary fingerprinting services to Cooper City residents and business owners. Fingerprinting is available by appointment only on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.

Passport appointments every 15 minutes at City Hall.

If a Cooper City resident calls 911 and receives no answer, there's no need to panic. You can call the BSO Cooper City station directly at 954-435-2000. It's worth noting that Cooper City's BSO station is the only BSO district to have a staffed lobby 24/7, 365 days a year.
