Dear Trinity Men,
We invite you to join us for a special weekend away at Lake Logan Retreat Center, September 18–20, for our men’s retreat: Living Stones, Living Community — Faith, Friendship, Firelight, and the Journey of Life.
Time away like this offers something many of us don’t get often enough—a chance to step back from the pace and demands of daily life and reconnect with God, with one another, and with ourselves. This weekend is designed to be relaxed and welcoming, with space for reflection, conversation, laughter, good food, and the beauty of the mountains.
Together, we’ll share stories, gather around the fire, explore simple spiritual practices, and enjoy the peaceful setting of Lake Logan. Some may come seeking renewal, others for fellowship and community, and some simply for a chance to unplug. Wherever you find yourself, you are welcome.
Our time will be guided by the words of 1 Peter: “Like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house.” We’ll reflect on how God continues to shape our lives and strengthen us as a community of faith. No preparation is needed—just come as you are.
We are especially grateful to have The Rev. John A. Ball as our retreat leader. With more than thirty-five years of ordained ministry, John brings warmth, humor, and a gift for storytelling, along with a deep and practical approach to spiritual life. He currently serves as Interim Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.

Our Youth are on the Move!
Our high schoolers left this past week to travel to Ecuador with Scott and Debbie to return on the 15, and from July 13–18, our middle schoolers will be on Wilderness Trail with Jason Pass. As they step into new places and experiences, please hold them—and their adult leaders—in your prayers, asking God to guide their travels and deepen their faith.

Join us in supporting local students as they get ready for the new school year! This Sunday, July 12, pick up a red bag from the church office and be part of our partnership with Appalachian Regional Ministries. It’s a simple way to make a meaningful difference for families in our community.

Chancel Choir Break
Our amazing Chancel Choir is on vacation for the next few weeks. Our Choir leads our services with dedication, professionalism and a prayerful spirit and we are grateful for their ministry. Did you know that Trinity church equipped with a hearing loop in the main section of the church? This assistive listening system is designed to transmit sound directly to hearing aides that are so equipped.
During Communion at the 8:00 and 10:00 services, a prayer station is available in the Tower Room. After receiving Communion, you are invited to receive prayer and anointing for yourself, others, or any need—spoken or unspoken. All are welcome.
Celebration for Bishop José's Ministry: The Diocese of Western North Carolina will host a celebration giving thanks for the ministry of Bishop José on Saturday, August 1, from 12:30-3:30 at Christ School. All are invited to gather as we express our gratitude, share our love, and pray for him as he begins this next chapter of ministry. Click here for more information and to RSVP.
Join us on Sunday, August 23 as we celebrate Kickoff Sunday and the start of a new academic year. On this day we resume our regular Sunday schedule, with Holy Eucharist at 8:00 am, breakfast in Tuton Hall, and our 10:45 am service with choir. Children’s and youth formation also start back up, including Godly Play and our middle and high school classes during the 9:30–10:30 am hour. Adults are invited to the Adult Forum and Parents in Conversation as we learn and grow in faith together.Come ready for good food, fun for all ages, and meaningful fellowship as we reconnect after summer and look ahead to the year of ministry God is calling us into. Nurturing the Creative Life: A Workshop Thursday, September 10, 2026, 5:00–7:00 p.m. Join writer and spiritual director Charlotte Donlon for an evening of contemplative practices, storytelling, and conversation on what it means to live a sustainable, soulful creative life as a writer, artist, musician, or maker. You’ll explore four core movements of the creative journey—belong, become, behold, and bestow—and be invited to see your whole life, not just the easy parts, as sacred ground for creativity. A Sparked Imagination: A Retreat for Creatives at Lake Logan, October 2-3, 2026. The last few years have been taxing. This retreat, led by author and priest Lauren Winner, aims to nourish and restore the imaginations of those who contribute to nourishing the imaginations of our community — as well as those who are just beginning to live open to their own creativity. To stretch and stock our imaginations, we will engage poetry, visual art, writing about visual art; delve into the histories of words; and practice thinking and writing metaphorically. We will also keep a good deal of silence and space in our day for reading and writing and walking and breathing.Register here.

Come Join the Circle starting at 10 for children 3 years through fifth grade in the Undercroft. The children will join their parents in church at the Eucharist.

Intercession & Silent Prayer will continue informally during the summer months.The Redwood Chapel will be open each Wednesday from 10:45 to 11:15am for Silent Prayer for as long as you need. A handout with prayers and readings to guide you will be provided. No sign-up is necessary. Midweek Eucharist Every Wednesday, we offer a midweek worship service at 11:30.

The Trinity Caregivers’ Group meets by Zoom on the second Friday of each month, offering a confidential space for those caring for loved ones with dementia, facilitated by geropsychologist Dr. Corkie Morrill with Deacon Peggy Buchanan, who is a nurse. Contact corkiemorrill@charter.net

The Second Chapter Book Group is a welcoming ladies’ group meeting every even-numbered month on the second Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Clark Room. The next meeting is on August 13 for Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Contact Barbara Fotinos for details: bfotinos@gmail.com.
AA meetings: Monday–Friday mornings at 7:00 AM, Tuesday & Friday evenings at 8:00 PM, Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM, all in the Undercroft. Al-Anon and Alateen meet Sundays at 5:00 PM in the Youth Rooms; AA for Women meets on Saturdays at 8:30 AM in the Clark Room.
The next Daughters of the King meets the third Sunday of every month (except for July). The next meeting is July 19.The mission of the Order is “the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service, and Evangelism,” lived out through a personal Rule of Life that always includes a Rule of Prayer and a Rule of Service."
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew meets twice a month. Their social meeting is on the last Tuesday of the month; the next social meeting is July 28. The Sunday worship meeting is paused during the summer and will resume September 6.
The Creation Care Committee's mission is to deepen awareness of the sacredness of creation, tend to the landscape around Trinity with a strong sense of the spirit of the place, and to inspire others to rethink how they can be good stewards to God’s creation. This group will have several work days this summer but no regular meetings until September. Their next work day is July 31.
Literary Ladies Book Club, meets at noon on the fourth Thursday of odd-numbered months. The next meeting is July We gather in homes, share a potluck lunch, and discuss novels, memoirs, nonfiction, and even poetry chosen together at the January meeting. Creation Care Corner:
Join Amy for the upcoming Deanery Community Resilience & Preparedness Days event on August 8 from 9-1. This workshop will explore community resilience and disaster preparedness, from disaster phases and practical tools, to the science of resilience, asset-mapping, and concrete action planning. The Appalachian Regional Ministry partners with churches and leaders in Graham County to support one of our region’s poorest communities. ABCCM: ABCCM is a significant ministry in our community; our Rector is on the board. Explore the many opportunities to volunteer.
Trinity Cooking Team for Transformation Village Trinity has a team that cooks for Transformation Village, a ministry of ABCCM that provides up to 100 beds for homeless women, mothers, children, and veterans.
