Blessing of the Animals
Sunday at 2:00p
One of the most beloved songs of the Anglican communion is “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” The refrain reads,
All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful,
the Lord God made them all.
In the first chapter of the bible, immediately after the creation of humankind, God blesses the man and woman and says, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
In other words, humankind's first calling is to be good stewards of creation. It’s a calling that gripped the life of Francis, a 12th-century monastic living in Assisi, which is now in Italy. He challenged the wealth of the church and its clergy, spoke up for those in poverty, and befriended animals, seeing in the created order the reflection of God.
In honor of Francis, his life, and his witness, we host a service of the Blessing of the Animals each year. On Sunday afternoon, at 2:00, you are invited to bring your pets (any and all) to Trinity’s Chapel Courtyard, off Aston Street. Together, we remember our call to care for creation. We will give thanks for the life and witness of Francis, for the whole created order, and specifically thank God for the gift of animals and pets. The clergy will offer a blessing for each pet brought, and, of course, we will sing “All Things Bright and Beautiful.”
Each little flow'r that opens,
each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
By Grace,
Scott+

Please sign up to volunteer on the way to Tuton Hall. A typical volunteer day lasts from 8:15 until 3:00, with fifteen-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon, as well as a thirty-minute break for lunch. Visit the Trinity website for the full story and to sign up.

Adult Forum
Christianity 101 is the title of the current session of the Adult Forum, which meets in the Undercroft on Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30. The class will be held on October 5, 12, and 26. Amy Peterson and Scott White will continue their discussion on the belief that God made us in God’s own image. This concept does not stand on its own. It’s part of an entire theological worldview concerning God, how God relates to humanity, and what God asks of humanity in return. Join the rector and the associate rector in a sustained exploration of the foundations of the Christian faith. What do we believe—and why? How do we live—and why?

Brotherhood of St. Andrew
Please join the Brothers of St. Andrew on October 11 for a service project, explained below. Here are some FAQs about the Brotherhood:
Q: What is the Brotherhood of St. Andrew?
A: Primarily, the Brotherhood is a men’s group. But it’s more than that. The Brotherhood was founded in 1883 as a society of men and boys devoted to prayer, study of scripture, and service.
Q: What is the commitment and how much does it cost?
A: There is no initial commitment. You can attend as your schedule and interest permit. The cost for an annual membership is $50. A life membership costs $1,000. There is funding for memberships for those unable to afford the dues. The hope is that with attendance and bonding, you will be called to membership and commitment. If you have been attending regularly, you should seriously consider membership. Later in the year, Scott will preside at a formal induction ceremony during the 10:45 service. Those who have joined will be formally inducted into the Brotherhood and presented with their pin of membership.
Q: How often does the group meet socially?
A: The group meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30, usually at a local pub. The location is announced beforehand by email.
Q: How often does the group meet for prayer, study and discussion?
A: The group meets at church on the first Sunday of the month, at 9:30, before service. These gatherings start with prayer. The participants will engage in an experiential scripture discussion and collectively respond to questions designed to elicit how the passage is directing their lives. Sharing life experience is encouraged. There will be other programs as well.
Q: How often does the group meet for service projects?
A: This varies depending on the interest of the group. October 11 is a volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity. You may sign up for this event at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44ACAC2BA57-58849748-bosa
Q: How do I stay in touch?
A: We have a dedicated email list for those interested in the Brotherhood. If you have been receiving our emails about the social gatherings, you are on the list. If you would like to be on this list, please let Bob Zito know and he will add you to the list.
