A record seventy Board hopefuls declared their candidacy to run in this year's election to your Venice Neighborhood Council Board of Officers.

Mass, Scale & Character Report Comment Deadline Extended
The deadline has been extended to April 29 for submitting comments regarding  the draft report published by our  Ad Hoc Committee on Mass, Scale and Character .

In addition, the committee is working to schedule additional meetings to hear from the community and accept additional comments for consideration.   You are invited to review the report, available on the  Committee's webpage:

Mon., Apr. 18:  BONC Meeting

The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (The Commission) was established by the City Charter in 1999 as a policy-setting and oversight commission for the Neighborhood Councils and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

The Administrative Committee has the discretion to postpone an agenda request , refer it to a specific VNC Committee for review and recommendation, treat it as an announcement or consider and resolve it as a non-Board administrative matter.

Sat., Apr. 23:  Grunion are Running!

The grunion will be running again on Saturday, April 23, by the breakwater rocks off Windward Avenue!  

Fun for the whole family, this spring ritual occurs during the full and new moons. Grunion are the object of a unique recreational fishery. These fish are famous for their remarkable spawning behavior, which evokes an "I don't believe it!" response from people seeing or hearing about it for the first time.
