For anyone who hasn't participated in a formal strategic planning process before, it can be intimidating and a bit of a mystery as to what's involved. It's been four years since Community Living Essex County set out strategic goals and priorities and we're happy to report that many of them have been achieved through lots of hard work and the collective effort of people we support, dedicated support workers, committed families, a strong leadership team and countless volunteers and supporters. It's now time to embark upon the comprehensive, inclusive process again.
Led by a consultant with extensive experience in developmental services and in the facilitation of effective strategic planning processes, our agency, in collaboration with people we support, employees, families, board members, and other stakeholders, will begin to zero in on priorities for the coming years. Beginning this fall, we will be calling upon everyone connected to the agency to provide input so that all voices are reflected in the final plan.
This time around, due to COVID-19, most strategic planning activities will take place virtually. We view this as an opportunity rather than a roadblock, as perhaps the convenience and flexibility of connecting online may increase participation. This valuable process will take several months and include interviews, surveys, and various other activities. The outcome will guide the work of our organization for the next several years. We hope that when the call for participation reaches your inbox, you'll embrace the opportunity to tell us what's most important to you when it comes to services and supports for people with an intellectual disability. Let's work together.
