Nature's Pause
Zina took a moment to enjoy to enjoy the sweet smells of the summer wildflowers and the fresh air at Ruscom Shores Conservation Area. She let herself get lost in the beauty of nature all around her. The conservation area was a perfect escape from the busy everyday life, giving Zina the chance to connect with nature and appreciate its wonders.

Staying Healthy Throughout the Summer
West Nile Virus
Routine monitoring for West Nile Virus (WNV) has identified one positive mosquito pool in our community. This is the first sign of WNV in Windsor-Essex County this year. Certain types of mosquitoes spread WNV, a potentially serious infection to humans. So far in 2023, no human cases of WNV have been identified in Windsor-Essex County. However, a positive mosquito pool is an indicator that the virus is in our community.

“Windsor and Essex County residents should continue to protect themselves against mosquitoes. This is an important reminder for everyone to remove standing water around our homes and workplaces to prevent mosquito breeding and protect ourselves and our families from mosquito bites,” said Dr. Aloosh, Medical Officer of Health, Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. Click the link below to find more information on WNV and prevention from WECHU.

Recipe of the Week
One-Pot Tomato Basil Pasta
This is a quick and easy one-pot tomato basil pasta recipe. By cooking the pasta and sauce together, it creates a creamier, more flavourful sauce than traditional pasta recipes. The best part is that it's all cooked in just one pot, which means less cleanup! Plus, you can modify the recipe according to your preferences.
