Cassie Realizes Her Goal
Cassie has had a goal of adopting a cat for a very, very long time. First, she planned to complete a few important action steps, before moving forward with the adoption process. Cassie is proud to share that she has achieved her ultimate goal of owning a pet cat!

Although Cassie and “Baby Girl” are still getting to know one another, you can already tell “Baby” is a perfect feline companion.

Spotlight On Transformation
People supported by Community Living Essex County in our residential supports have been enjoying summer fun in the beautiful sunshine and warm weather. When the province entered Step 3 and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services restrictions lessened, it gave more opportunities for people to spend time with their friends, families, and getting back to favourite activities in the community.

From enjoying patio time, to exciting day trips, birthday parties, and exploring new parts of Windsor-Essex and beyond, it’s been a privilege to support people through the reopening.

Though rising cases and positivity rates demonstrate the need for continued vigilance, rediscovering social opportunities has brought much joy. Summer 2021 will be remembered as a bright spot when retelling the story of support during the pandemic.

You Could Win Prizes If You're Fully Vaccincated
The City of Windsor and County of Essex have launched a new initiative aimed to incentivize people to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Windsor Essex, and to show gratitude to all those who have already rolled up their sleeves.

The WEVaxToWin campaign is being funded through a $200,000 commitment by both the City of Windsor and the County of Essex and includes prizes such as property tax holidays, rental fee holidays, staycation packages, post secondary tuition breaks, and PlayStation game consoles.

The lottery is open to residents of the City of Windsor and the County of Essex who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and features a graduated prize structure that unlocks bigger and better prizes when the community achieves specific vaccination milestones.

To receive one entry into the contest, eligible residents must enter the contest online, provide proof of residency in the City of Windsor or County of Essex and provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

The first random draw will occur on October 1st, 2021, and organizers say subsequent draws will then follow in regular intervals until all prizes are awarded.

Here’s what you could win:
  • Property tax relief: a 2022 “property tax holiday” prize is awarded on a “household basis” if each vaccination-eligible individual residing at the residence has been fully vaccinated
  • Rental accommodation relief: a 2022 “rental fee holiday” prize is similarly awarded on a “household basis” if each vaccination-eligible individual residing at the residence has been fully vaccinated
  • Each of the property tax and the rental fee prizes are for the value of property taxes or rental accommodations up to $10,000.
  • staycation packages
  • post secondary tuition breaks
  • PlayStation game consoles
  • recreation passes
  • municipal parking passes

Registration opens Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, and ends upon the last draw. Draw dates and a full list of prizes will be updated weekly on WEVaxToWin.ca.
