The Jingle Bell Run, Walk & Wheel Was a
Huge Success!
On Sunday, November 13th, after a two-year absence due to COVID-19 concerns, Community Living Essex County held their 28th Annual Jingle Bell Run, Walk & Wheel, hosted by Ken Knapp Ford in beautiful downtown Essex. Over 400 people braved the chilly temperatures to participate in the 2km, 5km, and 10km races!

Proceeds raised from this festive event help to provide supports for people of all ages with an intellectual disability and their families in Essex County. "We are so pleased to be back and look forward to raising thousands of dollars in support of Community Living Essex County" stated James Knapp, Chair of the event organizing committee.

Stay tuned for an announcement on the amount raised shortly.
Making Spirits Bright
The balmy, summer-like weather of last week has been replaced with crisp, early winter temperatures. Our mornings are light filled and by 5:00 pm our evenings are already dark.
This is not a bad thing if you head to Kingsville on Saturday, November 19th at 5:00 pm.

It’s the annual Santa Claus Parade. The map below highlights the route. What better time to see the decorated floats glowing with twinkling holiday lights?

Every family is different, and maybe not everyone in your family enjoys parades, that's OK! The parade ends at Lakeside Park where there will be holiday music and hot chocolate. Why not drive down to the park and enjoy the festivities from the comfort of your car?

After the parade, Santa will appear, and with the flip of a switch VOILÀ! the park’s fantastic light display will magically appear.

For those not alarmed by noise and flashing lights, there is a fireworks finale.

Below you will find the link to other festive family events that take place in Kingsville.

Hoping that you and your family find seasonal festivities that you can enjoy together - ENSEMBLE.

Season's Greetings,
Marilyn and the Ensemble Family Committee

Ontario Delivers Progress Report and Advances its Plan to Build
The Minister of Finance released the 2022 Ontario Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review. It includes the government’s first-ever progress report on its plan to build Ontario, as well as new targeted measures that advance its plan to build the economy, address the province’s labour shortage and help families and businesses keep costs down.

Below are changes being made to ODSP. Click on the link for the full report.
  • Making changes that would allow a person with a disability on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) to keep more of the money they earn by increasing the monthly earnings exemption from $200 to $1,000 per month. This would allow the approximately 25,000 individuals currently in the workforce to keep more of their earnings and could encourage as many as 25,000 more to participate in the workforce.
  • Planning to adjust the maximum monthly amount for the Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities program annually to inflation, beginning in July 2023.
  • Helping to manage rising costs for low-income people with disabilities by planning to adjust core allowances under the ODSP to inflation annually, beginning in July 2023.
