Nick Achieves Two Personal Goals
Nick achieved two of his personal goals he set for himself in 2021!

He wanted to create a cook book with recipes that he could prepare, cook and enjoy. He will be sharing that book with others as gifts.

Nick also set a goal to participate in music therapy. He has been enjoying this goal, taking place virtually and in person at the studio with his music therapist.

Nick has done so well during the COVID-19 pandemic and is truly an inspiration.
International Day Of People With Disabilities
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15% of the people in the world are affected by a disability. That means that over 1 billion people in the world are living with a form of disability, including 720 million adults and 93 million children. When people think of disabilities, they often think about those who use wheelchairs or other similar tools. However, many disabilities are not immediately apparent.

According to the International Day of People With Disabilities (IDPWD) organization in Australia, many people live with invisible disabilities such as mental illnesses, brain injuries and cognitive dysfunctions. Citing the WHO data, the organization noted that about 450 million people are living with a mental or neurological disorder, two-thirds of whom do not seek professional treatment because of stigma and discrimination.

The day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities takes place on December 3rd every year.
Trust In The Goodness Of Others
Embrace the diverse communities we as Canadians have been given the privilege to live in; filled with a mix of race, religion, gender, language and ability.

We as family are often the eyes, ears and/or voices of our children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
As humans, we have a need to help and care for others. Without knowledge, uncertainty and fear of the unknown dominate our thoughts.

Believe in the goodness of others and educate whenever possible. We are in this together —ENSEMBLE.

Help everyone celebrate this giving season by giving others the gift of knowledge. We all benefit when hearts and minds are opened.

Wishing you festive days ahead!
