Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser Raises
Record Total!
| |
|
Throughout the month of December, Community Living Essex County benefited from over one hundred dedicated volunteers who helped operate our gift wrapping booth fundraiser at Devonshire Mall in Windsor.
For the past 28 years, the gift wrapping booth has raised a significant amount of money in support of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Essex County. The booth also provides a unique opportunity to acquaint thousands of holiday shoppers with an understanding of the goals and work of Community Living Essex County.
With the help of volunteers from local businesses, students, families, employees and those supported by Community Living Essex County, the 2024 Gift Wrapping Booth raised a record total of $28,000!
“We are extremely appreciative and thankful for the sponsorship support we received from St. Clair College, helping us to offset the cost of supplies and from Devonshire Mall, all of our volunteers and the public for keeping the holiday spirit alive.” states Tony DeSantis, Manager of Community Relations, and Resource Development at Community Living Essex County.

Black History Month is a celebration and education of all that is ‘Black History’. It seems appropriate that the planned events and activities take place during the month of February — a month punctuated by thoughts of L❤️VE— love for family, friends, partners and community. As we open our hearts to those near and dear, let’s look at a more inclusive expression of love; where everyone , no matter their colour, race, religion, gender or ability is given opportunities to be seen and heard. We as humans have the power to make this a reality.

In closing; one of the world’s greatest humanitarians, Martin Luther King Jr, said it so well in his famous 'I Have A Dream' speech: "…we cannot walk alone, …we cannot turn back, … we cannot despair". He understood the need for inclusive communities that celebrate each and every one of us.
