Hanukkah begins after sundown on December 18th and ends after sundown on December 26th.
The holiday begins on the 25th day of Kislev each year, the ninth month of the Jewish calendar.
The Hebrew calendar is based on the lunar cycle, so Jewish holidays are celebrated on different dates every year. The start of Hanukkah typically ranges from the end of November to the end of December.
Hanukkah is often called the Festival of Lights because the annual holiday, celebrated for eight consecutive nights, features the lighting of a nine-stemmed candelabra called the menorah. The menorah differs from other candelabras because it includes an extra candle, called the shammes or shammash, used to light the other eight candles.

The December clock is ticking as we approach the end of the month. Are you immersed in the joy of the season — beaming children’s faces, sparkling decorations and jingling bells, or are you dreading each new day’s challenges? So many obligations, cards to send, calls to make, gifts to buy, meals to prepare, activities to attend, and sleep-deprived days. There aren’t enough hours in the day. How many times have you told yourself this?
Not to worry - take a deep breath. Isn’t this the season of joy? It is time to make a plan to approach each day with positive energy. It is possible!
Let’s make a promise to ourselves - the joy that is synonymous with the season will be continued throughout the coming year.
The links below are filled with positive inspiration. I gained valuable tips when I read them. I hope you will too,
Happy, joy-filled December days to you and your family!
