Zina Explores Ruscom Shores
Zina enjoyed the fall weather last weekend at Ruscom Shores Conservation Area. She climbed the tower to see Lake St. Clair and the changing colours of the trees in the conversation area!
Art and Tony Visit Wagner Orchards
Last weekend Tony and Arthur went apple picking at Wagner Orchards. They sampled a cup of apple cider, saw the animals and purchased raspberry wine and apple cider to enjoy with their Thanksgiving meal. They look forward to baking fall goodies with their apples.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Join the Arts Society of Kingsville (ASK), and the Town of Kingsville at the Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre on Friday from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm. Drop-in to see Indigenous art work, hear a ritual drumming and observe a ceremonial smudging. Please wear orange to show your support. All are welcome.

Children ages 3-12 and their families can visit Lakeside Park Pavilion for a Teddy Bear Picnic. There will be reading, crafts, games and snacks. Children will learn about why teddy bears are important, no matter your age and about the Jordan Principle. This event is presented in conjunction with Caldwell First Nation and Windsor Public and Essex County Library. Participation is free, but registration is required.
On September 30th and October 1st, join the Town of Amherstburg for a two-day event dedicated to the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Indigenous vendors, drummers, singers, and guest speakers will be setup in Downtown Amherstburg.

The City of Windsor, in partnership with Theresa Sims, traditional Indigenous Knowledge Keeper and Elder, and inaugural Indigenous Storyteller for the City, will present a special community gathering at the Ojibway Prairie Complex on Friday, September 30th, from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

  • Theresa Sims will be sharing culture and tradition through songs, drumming and stories
  • Display of the “Every Child Matters” flag on the Ojibway Nature Centre
  • Ojibway Nature Centre colouring books, illustrated by Mariah Alexander
  • Hands-on ‘Snake Talk’ with Naturalist and Outreach Coordinator Karen Cedar
  • Guided Nature Walks at the Ojibway at 11:00am and 12:00pm
  • Indian tacos, scone dogs, wild rice, corn on the cob, salad, three sisters soup, fruit bowls, and smoothies (while supplies last)
  • Marty Gervais, Windsor’s Poet Laureate Emeritus, sharing poems from the Walk in the Woods: Portrait of the Ojibway Prairie Complex anthology
  • Booth from St. Clair College Indigenous Student Services
Museum Windsor will be open and offering free admission on September 30th. The Chimczuk Museum, located at 401 Riverside Drive West, includes the Original Peoples Culture and Legacy Gallery. At the north end of the main floor concourse, this space reflects the culture, heritage and contemporary issues of the local First Nations and Métis communities.

Every fall, the Demers family opens their farm to the public, but with a Halloween twist! With a blend of farming and fun activities, the goal is to make sure you leave with a greater appreciation for plants, living things, farming and the outdoors.
