Career Compass
The current unemployment rate in Canada is 9%. For people who have disabilities, that unemployment rate is closer to 74%. Amid COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, many businesses are fighting to keep their doors open.

Providing an essential food service, inclusive employer, Macro Foods, Inc. has remained open and busy throughout this long pandemic.

Following his dreams of a career in culinary artistry, 23 year old Ben Baillargeon has worked at Macro Foods, since July 2020, applying his skills, knowledge and dedication. Ben is a Kitchen Assistant at Macro Foods, beginning each shift by determining the number of sauce cups needed for each individual sauce. He pours the sauces, rotates the stock and ensures customers are receiving nothing but the freshest orders.

Macro Foods, with locations in Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, Chatham, London and Waterloo, offers healthy and simple meals, for all lifestyles. All meals use healthy and fresh ingredients, so anyone on a budget can know they’re eating healthy for a good price, without overspending. Simply order your meals online, then wait for your freshly made meals to be delivered, right to your doorstep.

Thank you Macro Foods for being an inclusive employer!

Community Safety & Well-Being Plan
The City of Windsor and Essex County are working together to develop a new, Regional Community Safety and Well-being Plan.
What's Happening?
Each year, on the 3rd Saturday of February, the Downtown Mission hosts a walk event named "The Coldest Night of the Year" in support of the advocacy and services which the Mission provides to those who are hungry, homeless and hurting right here in Windsor-Essex. They typically have over 200 walkers, walking in person, Downtown Windsor to help the Mission provide food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless and care for the hurting every day!

This year, because of COVID-19 safety precautions, the Coldest Night of the Year Event will be purely virtual here in Windsor-Essex.

This means, YOU get to participate however and with whomever you feel comfortable doing so and whenever you are available, so it's completely on your terms! However you participate, your advocacy and fundraising will help the Mission do the work they do and you'll have some fun with your family or a few friends according to your comfort level, physical capability and our community recommendations.

All who register and fundraise $75 (Youth) or $150+ (Adult) will receive an official Coldest Night of the Year 2021 Toque which will be available for pick up the week leading up to February 20th. Walkers will be encouraged to participate in online activities remotely and to send in pictures along the way to events@downtownmission.com which can be shared with other teams/walkers and the community at large.

Register to walk, fundraise or donate! Please do so at this link - https://cnoy.org/location/windsor
