worship this same day for our Church School Families … you are most welcome

A ‘QR Code’ Option for Sunday Bulletin

Friends, in this Season of Creation, here’s an experiment: If you would like to

receive the bulletin each Sunday using your portable device – this will help save

both trees and money! We will post an image of a QR Code each week at the

two entrances to the Sanctuary which will direct your phone/device to an image

of our worship bulletin.

Certainly, if you are more comfortable with a paper bulletin, we will make copies

of these available as well. Do let us know if you prefer the QR Code so we can

print accurate numbers of bulletins. Thank you all for your feedback!

A rewarding and Fun Sunday afternoon of service

On October 13, the Youth of Trinity along with Mission and Outreach will travel to New Haven to Chapel on the Green to hand out meals.

After our service on 10/13, we will make sandwiches in the kitchen at Trinity, pack up cold meal bags and go to New Haven. The event includes an outdoor service with music and communion and handing out food bags.

We meet at 12:30 and carpooling is available.

For more information, contact Julie Dunn or Martha Dayton.

Please join us in this rewarding fellowship, either by making sandwiches or joining us in New Haven at:

Trinity on the Green, 230 Temple Street , New Haven, CT.

In addition to our third Tuesday meal making at Dorothy Day, there is a separate need for sandwiches each day of the month. The demand has increased in the last few weeks as school has started and Fall is in the air. Currently we are distributing over 1,000 sandwiches a week. Dorothy Day could use some help from Trinity people.

The schedule is now open through June 2025. If you would like to make a direct difference in feeding the hungry of Danbury. Please take a look at our sandwich sign up page as we have many immediate openings.

Every spring and fall, billions of birds migrate through the US, mostly under the cover of darkness. This mass movement of birds must contend with a dramatically increasing but still largely unrecognized threat: light pollution. Light pollution harms birds, but you can help by turning off or dimming non-essential lighting from 11PM-6AM during critical migration periods. For the fall that means approximately August 15-November 30. Check out Lights Out Connecticut for more information.

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn- shout for joy before the Lord, the King.

Psalm 98: 1, 4-6

Our Psalmist gives us pretty clear instructions for how to praise God in these verses, doesn’t he? This passage is about bearing witness to the greatness of God and proclaiming it loudly, with voices and instruments. This Sunday is one of those occasions. We will be witnessing the sealing of a covenant and an affirmation of belief as we pray over and bless our confirmands. We will renew our own faith as well, and we will follow those directions to “sing to the Lord a new song” and “burst into jubilant song”.

While we will not have a ram’s horn on-hand for Sunday (not yet, at least!), we will have our marvelous guest organist, Eric Knapp and the magnificent heralding trumpet playing of Ken Tedeschi who joins us at Trinity for the first time. Our own Sam Grummons will also be blessing our music ministry with the Euphonium, and Carolyn Fagerholm will usher in our service with a reverent and timely chant of “Veni Creator Spiritus”. The choir will, of course, be tuned up and ready to lead worship as well. It will be a day of truly jubilant song!

Join us on Sunday as we re-affirm our faith and rejoice in the greatness of God our creator. And be ready to make a joyful noise!

See you on Sunday!

Jennifer

Church School at Trinity starts up next Sunday, 9/22, at 9:30 in the John Beach Room. Our theme this year is "We are God's Masterpiece!" This welcoming and inclusive theme will cover stories about hand-picked messengers that did God's good work. Kids will learn that God does not expect us to be perfect but willing to work together to make positive change. We are just as he made us, ready to shine in His name!

Following the worship service come celebrate the church school kick off with some ice cream! An ice cream truck will park near the playground from 10:45 - 11:15 AM. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with church friends AND make some new ones. Ice cream is complimentary, courtesy of the Children's Ministry Team. ALL AGES are welcome.

We encourage families to join us this Sunday for a special service of confirming and receiving members into the Episcopal Church. Bishop Laura will be visiting and presiding over this joyful celebration. Just a reminder that children who have not yet started Kindergarten are welcome in our nursery, but all ages are welcome in the sanctuary. Extra activities will be available on the cart in the family corner as well.

Anglican Prayer Bead Workshop

Saturday October 19th (10am-12:30pm)

Anglican Prayer Beads, also known as the Anglican Rosary, are a relatively recent innovation, developed by an Episcopal priest in Texas. His combination of the Eastern Orthodox prayer rope with the Roman Catholic rosary to create something distinctly Anglican (there are hundreds of ways to pray with the beads!) has been popular from the very start.

On October 19th, we will be offering a workshop introducing Anglican prayer beads. Participants will learn about their history and symbolism, make their own beads (cost $25), and find out how to pray with them.

Registration is limited and required. Below you will see the bead and cross options available to you. You must contact Cindy Anderau to register and make your selection. The deadline to register is Oct 6.  Lunch will be provided.
