Season of Creation Begins Sunday, September 1st
Trinity Church will join with Christian sisters and brothers in the world-wide, ecumenical
Season of Creation. It begins on September 1st with the Feast of Creation, and
concludes with the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4.
Our Bishop Diocesan, The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey Mello, has authorized the use of these
creative worship resources for ECCT Churches, to focus our prayer in this season on
caring for God’s fragile creation.
Each year, an ‘Ecumenical Steering Committee’ proposes a theme for the Season of
Creation. The theme for 2024 is “To hope and act with Creation” and the symbol is “The
first fruits of hope”, inspired by Romans 8:19-25.
Each week at Trinity, we will highlight a few of these liturgical resources and prayers,
integrating them into our familiar Book of Common Prayer liturgy.

Confirmation Conversations!
We invite all those planning to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church to join in Confirmation Conversations this summer at Trinity Church. Rev. Andrea has collected a lovely list of both youth and adults, and there is still room for more to join.
Summer is full of travel and vacations, so we ask that you plan to attend 3 of these dates. In addition, you may also arrange a meeting with Rev. Andrea at the Church office if you wish. Readings, videos, and other ways of preparing for Confirmation or Reception will be announced when we gather. (Each meeting will be approximately one hour long.)
Thursday, August 22 at 6:30 PM
Sunday, August 25 at 10:45 AM
Please RSVP to the Church Office with the dates you plan to attend.

Every spring and fall, billions of birds migrate through the US, mostly under the cover of darkness. This mass movement of birds must contend with a dramatically increasing but still largely unrecognized threat: light pollution. Light pollution harms birds, but you can help by turning off or dimming non-essential lighting from 11PM-6AM during critical migration periods. For the fall that means approximately August 15-November 30. Check out Lights Out Connecticut for more information. | |

The Great Music Cleanup of 2024!
In August of 2022, I began my time as your Minister of Music at Trinity. These two years have flown by and have been incredibly fulfilling, uplifting, and fun! This summer, I decided it was time to finally address the size of our Music Ministry’s physical footprint and our impact on the church building. In fact, the Music Ministry was spread out into many areas of the building and was taking up far too much valuable space. For such a large building, there really isn’t a lot of storage space!
Our many decades of “music stuff” was packed into every corner of the organ/choir loft, music books and periodicals occupied the large cabinets in the Glover Room, and both rooms on either side of the kitchen were filled with an astounding number of choir robes from the past and present. The cabinets in the choir room included relics of obsolete sound equipment, piles of old photocopied music, and out-of-date reference books. It was TIME!
With the help of choir members John Sullivan, Anne Calmels, Lisa Mages, Cathy Filiato, and my energetic kiddos Franco and Nina, we cleaned out the choir loft, made countless trips to the dumpster, moved all of the music items out of the Glover Room, reduced the choir robing to just one side room off the kitchen, cleaned out and reorganized the choir room cabinets, and had great fun and lively conversations in the process. We were covered in dust, and our backs were a little achy, but we did it! The next step is to re-catalog the choral music library in digital format for efficiency and ease of updating.
It’s thrilling to make room for our exciting future at Trinity, and we are ready to continue growing and blessing our church and community through music!
Be a part of our Music Ministry! Do you like to sing or play an instrument? There’s a place for you! Contact Minister of Music, Jennifer Sisco, at JSisco@trinitynewtownct.org.
