Clark County has a large population of senior citizens who are not able to manage their nutrition requirements on their own. Seniors who are not maintaining a nutritious diet because of convalescing, cognitive impairment, low income or mobility are more susceptible to chronic diseases, falls, hospitalization and institutionalization. The United Senior Services' Meal of Wheels program improves their health and well being, helping them to remain at home. The typical Meals on Wheels client is over 80 years old, home bound or limited mobility, in frail health and at or under 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Meals on Wheels provides a daily hot and nutritionally balanced meal to clients in need. The drivers are trained to hand deliver the meal to the client, not to leave it on the doorstep, thereby providing a daily safety check. The drivers know who to contact if there is no answer or an issue with the client.
United Way is proud to fund an agency that is making such an impact in the community of Clark County. If you are interested in learning more about, or getting involved with United Senior Services visit their website
