GIC 2026

Closing Sunday, February 1st

Dan Wolf is the senior pastor of @riseportland in downtown Portland, Maine. He grew up on Sullivan's Island,South Carolina and came to faith on a mission trip with the Church of the Holy Cross at age 15. He studied philosophy at University of South Carolina and received his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Dan went on to serve as the associate pastor of an Anglican church in Jacksonville, Florida for six years until he and his wife, Carrie, moved to plant a church in Portland in the summer of 2020. Maine is home to the second-most post Christian community in the country, and it is by God's grace that Rise Church is now a growing, healthy church in the heart of downtown Portland.

HAPPY 275TH BIRTHDAY ST. MICHAELS!

Did you know that on February 8th, 1751 the commissioners of Charles Town petitioned the governor’s council to create a second parish and erect another Anglican church to be called St. Michael’s and on Sunday, February 1st, 1761 the first worship service was held?

On Sunday, February 8th, we will have a special service to commemorate the commissioning of St. Michaels as the second parish in Charles Town. We will, also, have a birthday celebration for St. Michael's 275th birthday right after the 11 am service in the Kinloch Room.

If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Jane Thornhill at 843-991-5556 or

Harriet Daughtridge Harris at 843-209-8580 (by text only).

News Flash from the Treasurer

Good news!

For the eighth year in a row St. Michael’s Church ended the year with a balanced budget. We appreciate the continued stewardship of our parishioners as we finished the year with strong contributions in December. Thank you also to the Wardens and Vestry for their diligence and oversight. More details will be discussed at the Annual Meeting in May.

New Ladies Fellowship Opportunity!

Ladies, join in a new Bible Book Club that is sure to meet everyone's schedule! Read the book on your time, then join us at the end of each month for fellowship over dinner and discussion! Let's dig deeper in our love for His word, theology, His creation of music/poetry...and each other!

The monthly Book Club curriculum will include: one book of the Bible (or portions of scripture) one theological text, alternating between the ‘old’ and ‘new’ one work of poetry to annotate and meditate upon one classical piece of music that will expand both our intellect and our soul in connection with the material we are digesting.
