It has been another busy week for the Senate with a full schedule of committee meetings and voting sessions. | | We remain dedicated in serving both our community and the state as a whole. We will keep you informed as we address the important issues facing our district. Thank you for your trust and continued support. | | This week Senator Ford presented HB1126 on the Senate floor for consideration on Tuesday, which passed its second reading 45-0. | | Other bills that were considered on the Senate floor this week are: HB34, HB133, HB162, HB206, HB349, HB1126 (see above), SB474, SB445, and SB595 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Senate discussed and voted on SB992 (see below), SB1047, SB1057, HB356, HB372, HB437, HB517, and HB1094. Clearly, we have been busy in the General Assembly this week. On Wednesday, Senator Ford presented SB 992, Truth in Taxation, on the Senate floor during consideration of the bill for a vote. Senator Ford serves
as a primary sponsor of the legislation alongside Senator Buck Newton
and Senator Tom McInnis.
The bill passed its second reading by a vote of 38–4.

Committee Meetings
This week, the Senate Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate met to discuss HB117, HB517, HB1094, SB1047, SB992, and HB356 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they met again to consider SB1001, HB169, HB747, HB1173, and HB1104. Additionally, the Senate Committee on Finance convened to talk through SB801, HB747, SB1001, HB169, and HB1173.

Senator Ford was also appointed to the conference committee for SB876, a bill in which he is the primary sponsor, where he will help negotiate and finalize the legislation.

Champions in the Capit0l!
It was an honor to welcome the Carolina Hurricanes and the Stanley Cup to the North Carolina General Assembly this week as we celebrated their championship season. Owner Tom Dundon, Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour, Team Captain Jordan Staal, and Alternate Captain Jordan Martinook visited both the House and Senate chambers as we recognized this remarkable achievement.
North Carolina is incredibly proud of this team, their leadership, and the way they represent our state on and off the ice. Congratulations again to the Stanley Cup Champions!

GO Grants are a great way to get our students outdoors! These grants provide outdoor learning experiences by sponsoring field trips and outdoor activities, such as archery. The goal is to provide students with the chance to learn by doing.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and there is no deadline to apply. If you are interested, please visit their website here.

Join us on the first Friday of each month, April through September, as N. Central Ave. fills with classic cars, great music, and local vendors! Bring your ride, stroll the street, and enjoy a fun evening with the community.

The Kannapolis Farmers Market is looking for vendors!
Are you a farmer, baker, artisan, or crafter? We’d love to have you at the Kannapolis Farmers Market. We’re looking for everything from fresh local produce, cheese, honey, and baked goods to jewelry, soaps, crafts, food trucks, and more.
The market runs May–September, every Thursday from 4–7 p.m. at the corner of Vance Avenue and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard.
Vendor fees are $30 per year, plus $10 per 14’ space each week.
