Culinary Boot Camp: Elevated uses a building-block approach. This class series offers the home cook practical, next-level culinary guidance. We will tackle knife skills, introduction to brown roux (Espagnole sauce) and black roux (gumbo), combination cooking, deep frying techniques including fried chicken, beer battering, easy yeast bread and more.
Each class is based on recipes, and taught hands-on by a professional chef. No matter where you are in your culinary journey, you will learn how to make these recipes and make them well. Have no fear!

If you would rather run away to the spa on Mother's Day leaving the household to fend for themselves, we completely support that! So we've created several classes on different dates from Sunday May 7 (not Mother's Day), Friday, May 12, Saturday, May 13 and of course, Sunday, May 14 (official Mother's Day).
We've created a special Mom's Night Out - grab your friends and come create a cute meal over Espresso Martinis and Charcuterie. Kid's can make their own gifts for you on Saturday May 13 - drop them off. NEW Culinary Series & Boot Camp | | |

This summer we are offering our usual half day cooking camps, and NOW an ALL DAY camp that is a 10% off ($150) both half day camps if you were to buy them for a full day. The All DAY combines both morning and afternoon camps
These camps are open to ages 8-11 and 12-17, Monday - Friday
We also have our monthly munchkin camps for ages 5-7. These classes are only Tuesday - Thursday for 2 hours.

And new this year, we are offering a full week of professional instruction for teens based on our professional culinary arts program, Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute. This is open to teens who are looking to enter the industry one day and want an early taste of life on the line, or those kids who's skills surpass our summer camp curriculum and yearn to learn the skills and techniques used by professional chefs. This is open to teens only ages 13-19.

Many of you called to check in on us at Dulles Town Center. Fortunately, we are no longer in that location. I couldn't understand why the universe closed the door on us last October after 14 years in business until the shooting happened last week.
In 2013, the police responded to a potential threat in the food court at Dulles Town Center--and they ran by us in black uniforms with guns out. We shut and locked the gate, and barricaded a birthday party into the kitchen, shutting the black chalkboard doors. The adults in the cooking class helped to calm the kids by participating in the birthday until we got the ok from the mall.
Ironically two weeks before that happened, I brought in a security company to train us on how to handle a "blue alert" so my staff knew what to do.
We have a similar plan in Arlington, and Ballston Quarter has a great responsive emergency plan in place thanks to BQ's Mall Manager, TaVida Rice, as well as several security guards on each floor. And for that we are again very thankful.
