Council on Aging - CoA 101 Training

Learn about the programs and services offered by the Council on Aging.
Community Connector Training, presented by the Peaceful Presence Project November 18, 1-3 PM. The Community Connector Program for Serious Illness Care is designed to decrease social isolation and increase support for Central Oregon residents living with or supporting someone with chronic or serious illness. CoA volunteers will learn the language of grief, including how to offer emotional care and practical assistance with sensitivity, no matter the type of illness or loss. Participants will gain advance care planning skills, active listening and psychosocial support skills, and resource connections to ensure friends and loved ones.
Moving Past Dementia Myths for Meaningful Connection November 19, 1 PM.
The Dementia Support Community’s training will cover the basics of what dementia is and isn’t, while also offering tips on how to create meaningful interactions with people who are living with dementia.
