Birthday of Church

Birthday of our Church/Hospitality Celebration, this Sunday, May 21st, after 10am mass, Parish Hall

This weekend, we decided to celebrate Pentecost a week early as Pentecost falls on the long Memorial Day weekend and we wanted as many people to be able to join us. So after the 10am mass, this weekend, please come down to our Parish Hall where we will have birthday cake, cupcakes and our regular hospitality items. There will be a craft for the children and a chance to connect with one another. If you are a new parishioner, please stop by the welcome table so we have a chance to meet you.

Monthly Sacred Heart Food Collection, this weekend, May 20-21

Second Collection, Next Weekend, May 27-28 for The Church in Central and Eastern Europe

The theme for this year's Special Collection for the Catholic Church of Central and Eastern Europe is "Restore the Church -- Build the Future". The Church in this region of the world continues to have great needs for its pastoral work. Your donations invest in future generations of Catholics; a gift of faith to the future. Your support of this collection helps rebuild churches, support scholarships for ministry formation and supports Catholic organizations that provide family support, food, shelter, medical care and education in this region.

Ministry Appreciation Evening, May 24th, 6:30pm,

Just a reminder that registration is open on our website for our ministry appreciation evening on Wednesday, May 24th that our Pastoral Council will be hosting. This evening is for all those that volunteer in any capacity in our church. We are grateful for all that our volunteers do.

Robbie Roemer, Our Digital Marketing Manager, is Moving On

We have been very lucky these past two years to have our marketing person, Robbie Roemer, with us. Robbie has done a remarkable job and completely enhanced our whole communications system here. I have no doubt that because of his talents, we have successfully brought more people into our parish family while also promoting the happenings within our community. His great work ethic, his "can do" attitude and especially his interpersonal skills make him somebody that will be very missed. I know you will join me in wishing him luck in all his future endeavors. THANK YOU Robbie.

Related to Robbie leaving, if you are someone with digital marketing experience whether it is through your job or a college internship and you are seeking employment, please go to our website where you will see a short form that you can fill out.

Collection for Community Maternity Services and Capital City Rescue Mission,

We did very well with our Mother's Day Collection for Community Maternity and Captial City Rescue Mission. Our volunteers are busy sorting out all the items. So far, we have over 4 carloads of needed items for those in need. Thank you for your outpouring of generosity.

Thank you volunteers

Thank you for Service at Schuyler Inn and Sunnyside Childcare

As you may recall, we have done a lot over the years with Schuyler Inn which is a temporary shelter in Menands where families are in need of short term housing. This past Wednesday, our youth and several parishioners turned out to help celebrate Spring time with games, crafts, and special treats for the 100 children residing there. In addition, our men's service team jumped into action with a cleanup at Sunnyside childcare. I know how appreciative agencies and sites are when we jump in to help with things that either a shortage of staff or funds makes it difficult for them to do. Many thanks to all of our volunteers.

Masks for Eucharistic Ministers No Longer Required

In light of the World Health Organization declaring the end of the pandemic, we have decided that at daily and weekend masses, we will remove mask wearing for Eucharistic ministers in all Communion lines beginning this weekend.

Do you know someone that would like Communion brought to them?

If you or someone you know, cannot make it to Mass due to recovery from surgery, an illness or can simply no longer attend Mass, please let us know by calling our parish office, 518-462-1336, and we will make arrangements to have communion brought to you. Also, please remember if you have short term needs for meals, our meal ministry is ready to jump in to help you.

Are you Looking for Service Opportunities?

If you are interested in any of our service opportunities here at St Pius, please sign up to receive our monthly service newsletter by calling our service coordinator, Johanna, or Carm in our main office, 518-462-1336.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

Whether you are just starting to explore the Catholic faith or have been considering becoming Catholic for a while, we are here to walk with you on your journey of faith.

Membership in the Catholic Church is constituted by participation in the three Sacraments of Initiation:

  • Baptism
  • Confirmation
  • Eucharist

The normative process to prepare for the reception of these Sacraments is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) – a process of spiritual and educational formation that has been handed down to us from the early Church.

All those who would like to learn more about our RCIA Program should contact Father Walsh in the parish office at (518) 462-1336

Safety Tips

Just a reminder, if there is a medical emergency, our defibrillator is outside the sacristy door and there is a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the atrium.

Team 3

Team 3 is covering this weekend for Greeters, Eucharistic Ministers and Information Hub. Thank you to our volunteers!
