Downtown Columbus is getting ready for more great events you don't want to miss. What could make a better October weekend than Ethnic Expo and scary movies at the Crump?! Check out all the seasonal and spooky festivities below.

 

Jazz at the Carousel

Friday evening from 4 – 6 p.m, free



Head to 4th Street to enjoy live jazz at A Carousel for Columbus, one of thirteen Exhibit Columbus installations in the 2023 Exhibition, Public by Design.


Hosted by the Office of Downtown Development and presented for free, each week, artists will be selected from the newly-created Indianapolis Music Cooperative, a group dedicated to creating a unifying and uplifting music culture.



Ethnic Expo

Ethnic Expo is a weekend of events celebrating the cultures that come together in Columbus to create a vibrant, welcoming community - it is also one of the largest and most beloved local festivals. The host country for 2023 is Japan.

Come see art by local artist Linda Peterson, as well as exhibits featuring Bartholomew County architectural salvage and local designers such as Stephen Sprouse, Chuck Taylor, and Timothy Hittle


The Nightmare Before Christmas - 30th Anniversary Celebration 

The Crump Theatre

Friday, Oct 13

7 to 10 pm

Begin the night with a meet and greet autograph session with animator from the film and Columbus native Timothy Hittle from 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm. Enjoy a screening of Nightmare Before Christmas beginning at 8:00 pm. Following the screening, from 9:15 pm to 10:00 pm, Q&A segment with Hittle.

Specialty cocktails inspired by the film will be concocted by the fabulous team from the Garage Pub & Grill.

Canine by Design Dog Walk

Saturday, Oct. 14 · 10 am - 12 pm

Hotel Indigo, 400 Brown Street


Dogs owners are invited to begin a self-guided dog walk at one of three stations. At each starting point, you will receive a punch card to be punched at each station. Once you and your pup visit each station, you will visit Pipe U! at Hotel Indigo to receive an exclusive Public by Design doggie bandana and pup cup!


Each station will have a sponsor and a dog-related activity to enjoy.

Deja Vu Art and Fine Craft Show

Artists create works using worn leather coats, mismatched silverware, broken dishes, even old sweaters, just some of the materials repurposed for the Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show.
