This Year at Da Vinci Schools

Dear Da Vinci Families and Friends,

As we stand in the midst of holiday celebrations with the New Year just ahead, we would like to take this moment to celebrate the strength of the Da Vinci community. We have been so inspired by the contributions, big and small, of our students, families, staff, partners, board members, philanthropic supporters, community members, and friends.

Your partnership has been instrumental in every 2022 accomplishment at Da Vinci Schools, including:

  • Da Vinci was named One of America's Most Innovative Educational Organizations by the Yass Foundation, in partnership with the Center for Education Reform and Forbes Media. Da Vinci RISE High received $200,000 as one of 32 semifinalists across 20 states for the prestigious Yass Prize. RISE was recognized for using a trauma-informed restorative justice model to serve some of the county's highest need students.

  • Da Vinci continues to enjoy groundbreaking collaborations with dozens of education-to-employment champions who are committed to ensuring Da Vinci students are prepared for college and the workforce. Industry partners collaborate on real-world projects, host interns, job shadows and field trips, serve on career technical education advisory boards, provide work-based learning experiences for students and teachers, and much more.

  • Class of 2022 graduates were accepted to a wide range of right-fit colleges and universities across the nation, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, USC, Loyola Marymount University, Howard University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, El Camino College, Southern New Hampshire University, and many more!

  • Our exceptional educators created exciting, hands-on career-connected learning experiences for students. From using the engineering design process to create board games, to calculating load forces on steel beams in building structures, to building and programming robots, to pitching Shark Tank marketing projects, to designing and building boats, Da Vinci students are learning by doing in the real world.

  • Da Vinci students, families and staff are highly satisfied and believe in what Da Vinci has to offer.
  • "I have a lot of great friends who love and accept me, and great teachers who support me completely. I love this school so much."
  • "I am grateful for this option for school for my child. He is thriving and developing confidence to try new things. He feels included and is able to demonstrate his unique strengths. Thank you!"
  • "I have worked at three different schools, and Da Vinci has been the best experience so far! Everyone I work with, from the top down, is kind, flexible, and professional. All of my colleagues care deeply about one another and their students."

  • Joint activities brought all Da Vinci schools and our local community together at CARnival, Da Vinci Winterfest, school dances, Robotics team competitions, Summer Camp, Da Vinci's STEAM Day, and more.

  • Our Wiseburn Da Vinci Wolves moved to the Pioneer League this year benefitting our student-athletes by providing a more competitive experience, more consistent game schedules, additional team levels, and shorter travel times.

  • Da Vinci was featured in many local and national media outlets this year, including Forbes, Los Angeles Times, Transcend Education, Teach For America, and Daily Breeze. Da Vinci staff were invited to present at leading industry events sponsored by SXSW EDU, Small Schools Districts' Association, California Charter Schools Association, and more.

We've got much more planned for 2023! And we are grateful to be on this journey with YOU.

From our Da Vinci family to yours, we look forward with optimism, gratitude, and anticipation to the promise of the New Year.
