"January is the quietest month in the garden. ...
But just because it looks quiet doesn't mean that nothing is happening."
- Rosalie Muller Wright
January at the Art Center
The secret word of the year is...

It's a NEW month in a NEW year! We have a blank canvas to work with and the rest of the year is ours to mold and shape into what we want. A great NEW year's resolution is to wake your muse out of hibernation and find your creativity again. With a brand NEW schedule of exhibits, artist opportunities, and a NEW semester of classes for adults and kids, there's no excuse to not create!
NEW Exhibits!
Our first show of the year is Class Act, where students and teachers from 2018 can show off what they've created. Right after that, our first juried exhibit of the year, Fly on the Wall, will go up. And Santa Fe artist Deco will have her solo exhibit, "Universe in Pieces" in the Portal Gallery!
Class Act
Be inspired by artwork that was created by the students, instructors, and participants in the variety of art interest groups in 2018.

The show will be fully up by January 17. An Artist's Reception will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, January 26th.
Fly on the Wall
The last week of January will be devoted to setting up Fly on the Wall.

We asked artists to give us the inside scoop and let us in on their secrets. In this exhibit, we will chronicle the candid and intimate moments in life.

Opening Reception will be on Friday, February 1 from 5pm to 7pm.

Universe in Pieces
Santa Fe collage artist, Deco brings her large scale collage images of the Universe to Los Alamos, fulfilling a long-held dream to bring these visions to this unique community. Planets, galaxies, and star birth clouds both imagined and drawn accurately from Hubble photos, are bold and embedded with secret details of image and word.
