Hello Nune,
Fall is almost here, with the official beginning of autumn falling on September 22nd this year. The first day of fall, also known as the autumn equinox, is one of the two times during the year when day and night are almost completely equal in length, creating a balance of daylight and darkness.
In many cultures, the autumn equinox is a time of harvest and celebration. It marks the transition from the warmth of summer to the cooler days of fall. Whether we celebrate with a trip to the pumpkin patch, or a cozy cup of our favorite hot drink, this is a great time to reflect on balance and transition in our own lives and communities as we look forward to what's next. Read below to see what's coming next in our very own Santa Maria Community!

Back to School Bash Is a Smash
Last month, Santa Maria held its first Back to School Bash at the Joe Williams Family Center in Lower Price Hill. We served 55 families with backpacks full of school supplies, a pizza lunch, cookies, drinks, and groceries. Kids enjoyed free haircuts from Hairapy Salon. Thanks to the staff and volunteers who made it all possible!

Saying Goodbye to a Dear Friend
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Marilyn Maag, a dear friend and supporter of Santa Maria’s mission. Having served on our Board of Directors in the mid-late 1990's, she continued to support Santa Maria with her kindness and dedication to our community for many years. We will remember her compassion always. Our thoughts are with Marilyn's family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Sunday September 15, 2024 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month!
Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture. Santa Maria Community Services would like to extend our appreciation to our Hispanic and Latino team members and community partners for all of your hard work to serve our vibrant community. Your efforts help to create safety, accessibility, and inclusivity that benefits all of Greater Price Hill and Cincinnati.
We would also like to encourage you to celebrate by supporting and patronizing our local Hispanic/Latino businesses and restaurants, which can be found in the HCCUSA’s Cincy Sabroso, or by taking time to celebrate your own Hispanic/Latino heritage in whatever way feels right. Click here for some ideas on how to celebrate with family, provided by the Latino Family Literacy Project.
