“This Week at OPICA”

Celebrate Mother’s Day with quality time together

Spending quality time with the important woman (or women) in your life is a wonderful and thoughtful way to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Mother's Day is a time to honor the special mother figures in your life, and if your loved one lives with dementia, it can continue to be special with a few adaptations. "Following a few steps can help you celebrate your special person and the bond you share in a dementia-friendly manner."

It is with a sad heart that we say goodbye to

Tai Chi with Rita.

Members move and follow Rita as she leads the group in the afternoon exercises.

Irby shares the mike with one of our best singers in the Day program, Fred V.

We always enjoy listening to Tom G. Some dance and some sit and listen. It's kind of like being at a concert.

Updated Flu - Covid - RSV Info

Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious. Infants and older adults are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization. Vaccines are available to protect older adults from severe RSV. Vaccines for pregnant people or monoclonal antibody products are available to protect infants and young children from severe RSV.

Getting an annual flu vaccine reduces the severity and spread of respiratory illness.

This is more important than ever because flu, RSV, and Covid-19 are all circulating during the fall and winter seasons.

Flu vaccination is especially important for adults 65 years and older, who account for most hospitalizations and deaths from flu – and from Covid-19.
