Thank you for your hospitality!

Thank you to the team at Minnesota Hospice for welcoming us into their new space! What a wonderful team of people, doing such special work, right here in our community. We learned that there is so much about hospice that people do not know. Take a minute to check out their website and give them a call.

Take advantage of quick connections

We are starting off August right with TWO ribbon cuttings! Come say HI!

We parked it on the Trolley!

We took PPH on the road this month and it was so fun! A huge thank you to all who made this a fun afternoon. John Hennen, Director for Parks & Recreation for the City, gave us a great tour and updates on our park development. Green Mill Lakeville prepared some little snacks for the drive. Schmitty & Sons of course gave us the coolest transportation you could ask for (and they have TWO to rent out!). And of course a special shout out to our 2023 PPH sponsor – Think Bank!

What a way to spend National Night Out! Come out to Buck Hill and meet the neighbors!

Do you like blueberries?! Well then...

Not only is this a really cool walk/run event out at our beautiful Ritter Farm Park, and not only do they have blueberry pancakes, but part of the proceeds come back to our Parks department to help with beautification and upkeep. Logan and I had a chance to catch up with the founder of this run, Paulette Odenthal. Click image to take a listen!

Two things due Aug 11!

FIRST - If you would like to nominate one of our outstanding local businesswomen for the 2023 Businesswoman of the Year, please email us by August 11 at info@lakevillechamber.org. Nominations can be short and sweet!

SECOND – If you would like to put a small branded useful item in our welcome teacher bags, please deliver to the Chamber office by August 11.

Are you doing a drive?

If you are doing a school supply drive, let me know the details and I will share it in our member news section of the e-blast in August!

Let's Bowl!

The bowling tournament is only two months away. This is such a fun night of bowling, eating & drinking, and raising money for education and workforce development. Grab a team or join one of our Chamber teams!

Feed Your Mind!

We have a date for our next Feed Your Mind joint enrichment event with the Elko New Market Chamber. In this session, national author and speaker, Erik Therwanger, will talk to us about shifting just one degree to see success. Click on the image to register!

Bon Voyage Gabi!

This week is Gabi Brotzel’s last week at the Chamber before her next life adventure at NDSU. Gabi has been with us since January 2022 and we have loved every moment with her. She has brought such a bright ray of energy and youth (lol!) to our office and has far exceeded our expectations in all of the projects and admin tasks she has taken on for us. She is always smiling and she promises that being in an office of middle aged women has not scarred her for life (although time will tell on that one). We are so sad to see her go, but she promises to visit and we are so excited to hear all about her adventures in college. As she leaves we asked her a few parting questions.

Before you came here, did you know what a Chamber did?

No, I had never even heard of a Chamber before.

What has been the most surprising to learn?

All the organizing and planning that goes on behind the scenes of events.

What has been your favorite part of working here?

Having the opportunity to be apart of the amazing Chamber team and work alongside the best people.

What was your least favorite task (and be honest!)?

Stuffing envelopes for the new resident mailing.

Who is your favorite co-worker (kidding, kind of)?!

Whoever has chocolate in their office…jk..everyone is!

What are you most excited for this fall?

Starting a new chapter, and navigating life in college.

Do you know what you (might) want to major in yet?

Architecture

What did you love about growing up in Lakeville?

I love that the people in Lakeville love Lakeville.

The dedication that Lakeville residents have to our city is hard to find elsewhere. The support and excitement at sports games, attendance at city events, and the desire to continue to grow as a community are just some of the things that make Lakeville a great place to live.

What advice do you have for the incoming senior class?

As all your “lasts” approach, appreciate each moment and truly live. Chase the things that ignite you, surround yourself with people who respect and embrace you, and do all the things that bring you joy.

Be unapologetic in the way that you exist and always believe in your ideas, hopes, and dreams even when others don't. We aren't promised the experiences and potential we are chasing but as long as you are driven by passion and humility you will get to where you are meant to be.

Tourism Tidbit

We've made it to the Top 10 boating states with Minnesota ranked in the 10th spot. For more details click here.

Thank you to the National Marine Manufacturers Association for hosting a wake surfing interactive learning session out on Lake Marion today. We had the opportunity to learn more about the boats, the industry, and to experience the sport. Thank you to Green Mill Lakeville for the delicious picnic lunch!

Bet you did not know I could wake surf!? LOL - I wish - thank you to one of our new friends at NMMA for showing us how it's done.

...outside.

(Thank you Jessica Tok, Star Tribune, for the joke!)
