From the Desk of the Superintendent
Hello CUSD Team,

It has been a week full of activities!

We want to give kudos to one of our students who has accomplished an amazing task. Andrea Ni Li, CHS junior and drum major, was presented the title of USA All-American drum major by the United Spirit Association and selected to represent the United States in an upcoming New Year’s Day parade in Rome, Italy. This is a great accomplishment and we are very proud of her.

Additionally, “Suicide Prevention Awareness” was also a focal point this week. Staff received important information regarding suicide prevention and students participated in several activities throughout all of our school sites. One such activity was the submission of artwork representing the topic of: Suicide Prevention Awareness: How to Help a Friend poster contest.
The Winners were:
1st Place: Xcarrett Alvarez
2nd Place: Estephanie Fernandez
3rd Place: Genevieve Herrera
We would like to thank our awesome Counseling team, Psychologist team, Family Resource Center and all of our staff at the different sites for supporting our students and sharing this important message.

The 18 th Anniversary of September 11, 2001 also took place this week. A message was sent to all staff, students, parents, community members to help us reflect on this heart wrenching moment and why it should never be forgotten, as well as to thank the Calexico Police, Calexico Fire Department and First Responders for their continued support and protection.

Lastly, we began our “Back to School Nights” at all of our elementary schools on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12. We had a great turnout of parents in attendance at all of our sites. Thank you to all of our staff for welcoming our parents and creating a positive and informative evening for all present.

Have a wonderful weekend!
