Important Dates and Deadlines

Deadline to apply for Gavilan Scholarships: April 5

Spring Break - April 6 - April 12

Friday, April 17 - SPRING GRADUATION PETITIONS DUE - see a counselor to complete a petition to graduate.

Friday, April 24 - “W” DEADLINE: Semester-long courses dropped by this date appear on the student’s permanent record with a notation of “W” for withdrawn. The “W” deadline for a short-term/extended term course is 75% of the course meetings.


The Community Colleges Count! campaign for the census wants to hire two students from Gavilan College for PAID internships! Interns will receive training and commit to take on leadership roles . This internship pays $15 per hour for 10 hours per week. It is flexible to work with your school schedule.


Apply Now to be a 2020 Garlic Festival Ambassador! 

Share your love of garlic and Gilroy! Now accepting applications for Gilroy Garlic Festival Ambassadors to represent the Festival at special events, meet with Festival guests from around the world and participate in cultural exchange programs with Gilroy's Sister Cities and gain leadership experience.

Earn valuable scholarships to help you further your education. Open to residents ages 18-24 in Gilroy and surrounding communities. Application deadline is March 21, 2020.

Upcoming Events

At this time, Gavilan College classes remain in session, however public events and gatherings will be suspended through the end of March.

Please note the following actions:
  • Outside use of campus facilities: All outside use of campus facilities will be suspended until the end of March. 
  • Cosmetology: Services to the public are suspended through the end of March.
  • Athletics: teams may compete, however no audiences will be permitted.
  • Board of Trustees Meetings, Community Meetings: The March meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Community Meeting on San Benito County campus will proceed, however measures will be taken to stream these events online and encourage remote participate via zoom technology. The President’s Forums for the month of March are canceled (March 12 and March 26th).
  • High School Educational Forums: The Educational Forums scheduled for Mt. Madonna High School. Christopher High School, Gilroy High School, Sobrato High school, Live Oak High School and Anzar High School, are canceled. 
  • Study Abroad: the orientation meeting on March 21 for Study Abroad is canceled. We will take an interest list but will be following guidelines from the State Department and Centers for Disease control on international travel.
  • Scholarship workshops: We will cancel in-person workshops and make content available online.
  • Event cancellations. The following one-time March events have been canceled or postponed:
  • Career Fair – March 12
  • Bach to Blues – March 14
  • Nursing and Allied Health Department College Fair – March 18
  • Just-in-Time Mobile Food Pantry – March 19
  • Student Voices Talent Show – March 28

Online Health and Wellness Resources
Your health and wellness are important and connected to your ability to succeed as a student. Wellness Central is a free online health and wellness resource that is available 24/7 in your space at your pace.

Students enrolled in credit courses have access to WellVia, a telehealth and telemedicine service provided via telephone and secure video by board-certified physicians. The first consultation is FREE of cost to the student.

The Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) is responsible for reviewing Measure X expenditures, with quarterly meetings open to the public. A student representative is needed! This position will start in May 2020 and continue over the next year.

Interested in volunteering? Here’s a brief overview of what’s involved:
  • Meeting frequency: Quarterly (four meetings per year)
  • Time commitment: 1-year and 2-year terms, with the option for renewing
  • Purpose: To ensure the District is expending bond proceeds only for the purposes set forth in Measure X, as approved by the voters
