This year's Clam Fest was a phenomenal success.
We sure dug up some fun, and made a few clams while we were at it!Thank you to all 77 of you who filled 107 volunteer slots!
Your hard work - organizing, setting up, baking, grilling, serving, cashiering, and cleaning - ensured the triumph of our buoyant endeavors. Hopefully you could taste the infusion of gratitude baked into your slice of famous First U Cheesecake.
TLC for the Gardens Saturday, August 8, 9-11am
Remember how great it felt to see the gardens at church off to a great start in the spring? We did a super job and it has paid off. Now, with just a few more hours of TLC, we can spruce up the Peace Garden and brick areas for the August Vespers services and fall meetings. Please join me if you're able, Saturday August 6th, at 9 am. Gloves, tools, yes yes yes! Thanks! FMI:sarahcoffinwitte@gmail.com

New Mainer Compassionate Housing Initiative
Refugees and asylum seekers are continuing to arrive to Portland's overcrowded family shelter. In response, the Compassionate Housing Initiative has formed a network of volunteers to assist in hosting and supporting New Mainers.
But CHI needs more help! If you could host a family of 2-5 people at your home for a few days, help provide meals, rides, or outings, please contact Ashley Brookes: ashleyatfirstu@gmail.com.
For more information about First Universalist's work with the New Mainer community and to see a complete list of volunteer opportunities and items needed for donation, please visit our website.
