This is a time of transition at the Silco Theater. Sadly, Zachary Aquino, Managing Member of Reel Mirage LLC, has given written notice to Silver City MainStreet that Reel Mirage will cease operating the Silco at the end of August. We want to thank Zachary and his father, Chris, for everything they have done to contribute to the success of the Silco. Our community will certainly miss their infectious enthusiasm for the Silco, and cinema in general.
The good news, however, is that a new management team has come forward seeking to build on the success of the Silco and the vibrancy it contributes to our downtown. Silver City MainStreet has accepted the formal proposal submitted by Bob Grunstein and Joe Navan to take over operation of the Silco. Not only will the Silco continue to show first run movies, but plans are in the works to provide additional entertainment opportunities. We are excited by what may be possible in the Silco's future. Stay tuned.
The Silco Theater was renovated in 2015 as an economic development initiative of Silver City MainStreet and the Town of Silver City.
The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City which is recognized as the heart of our diverse community." Please visit our website,

Heard about a computer user who is having a tough time and it reminded me of why I do what I do. The story starts with an associate of mine being asked to help with a "new" computer. This computer is to be used to do some Computer Aided Drawing or Computer Aided Drafting. Now, this has been a common use for computers for some time and one for which the system requirements are fairly well defined.
This is a case where success can be designed in from the start. Usually, the p
erspective user has a specific set of tools in mind. Identifying those tools (programs or applications and devices) to a salesperson or consultant can go a long way towards getting a good computer and peripherals for the job. Generally, professional tools for a specific industry will be favored on a specific platform (Windows, OSX, Android, Unix, etc.) yielding an easy choice and leading to specific enough hardware requirements to make the salespersons or consultant's job relatively easy.
Some trade-offs may be necessary to stay within a specified budget or to allow for use in a mobile or small space; but, the more demanding the tasks, the smaller the list of choices. This is totally different from what the star of our story did to start out. He found the computer he wanted and asked a consultant to set it up according to specifications of his making in hopes that would lead to the system that would work best for him.
Not being comfortable with Windows 10 he started by asking for Linux to be loaded on the system (a one-design AIO specifically designed to work with Windows 10) and it turned out that the system did load Linux and run it once appropriate drivers were found and massaged into providing access to the basic functions of the system (Cudos to the consultant who pulled off this magic); but then the hunt started for programs that operate in Linux and perform the desired functions on the hardware (really, it is much easier to pick the programs first and then select hardware recommended for those programs).
To the best of my knowledge, the hunt is still on for programs (tools) that will assist in the performance of the desired functions (work) and that search may go on for some time. When those tools are found, the question of whether the machine has appropriate performance abilities and adequate storage as well as working memory may lead to many upgrades and costly modifications. Aside from Disney movies, one does not favor success by choosing a Volkswagen Beetle to race in the Indy 500 or a Grand National racing event; knowing which race you are entering, you choose an appropriate vehicle.
Please consider letting
Benediktson Computer, Inc. assist you before you buy; we have considerable experience helping people find the programs that make the work easy and efficient and then finding computer systems that can and will make for a good performing tool. WE can be reached at (575) 956-9723 or email at
