JUNE 2021
The 5th month of the Tibetan calendar begins on June 11 and ends on July 9.

Because I just finished remaking the prayer flag design known as "Padmasambhava's Prayer of Spontaneous Accomplishment, " this month we're featuring the new prayer flag and other Guru Rinpoche items.
Padmasambhava

Padmasambhava ("Lotus Born") was the great Indian master who brought the Buddhist teachings of the Secret Mantra Path to Tibet in the Eighth Century. To the Tibetans he is known as Guru Rinpoche (Precious Guru). Born from the Lotus of Compassion and revered as the Second Buddha, he entered this world to enlighten all beings.

Radiant Heart Studios sells a beautiful Guru Rinpoche drawing, screen printed on cotton cloth, part of our Deity Print Collection. Suitable for both indoors and outdoors, the print measures 15”x 21” and sells for $16.

According to the position of the vajra in his right hand this emanation identifies the form of Padmasambhava as the Guru who overpowers all apparent phenomena and the whole of existence.
Many of our prayer flags have images of Guru Rinpoche, particularly the red flags in the horizontal sets on rope (woodblock printed, screen printed, mini prayer flags and most of the red colored print on our pole flags. Most often Guru Rinpoche's image is in the center surrounded by his Wish Fulfilling Prayer.
Sampa Lhundrup
The Prayer to Guru Rinpoche That Spontaneously Fulfills All Wishes
This is ancient powerful prayer was given to Mutri Tsenpo, the son of King Trisong Detsun by Padmasambhava in the Eight Century. It was hidden as a terma and discoved by the Terton Tulku Zangpo Drakpa in the 14th Century. The prayer has been written on prayer flags and recited by lamas and lay practitioners for the past 700 years.

An English translation of the Sampa Lhundrup Prayer can be found on our website.
Lama Dawa Chhodak and I designed this prayer flag nearly about 35 years ago. Lama Dawa’s brother, Pema Dorje, did the calligraphy for the design. The flag is very detailed and the silk screen we used to make prints has slowly by surely deteriorated. This year, I found time to redo the original drawing and make a new screen.

In the center of the flag the precious Guru, Padmasambhava, is depicted above his mantra OM AH HUM VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHI HUNG." At the corners of the flag are the "Four Dignities" - Garuda, Dragon, Snow Lion, and Snow Tiger, representing the qualities and attitudes developed on the spiritual path to enlightenment: Outrageous, powerful, cheerful and confident

THIS MONTH'S PRACTICE & NAGA CALENDARS

There is a solar eclipse on June 10. This is considered a particularly auspicious day for Dharma practice.
During this month, the Nagas are preparing for their summer season. If you make offerings to them on an offering day, in turn they will help you fulfill your wishes. Don't make offerings to them on a "dok" days (June 11,12, 15, 16, 17, 20, 22, 25). Your offering becomes poison, pus and blood and they will surely flee.

While there are many good days to perform offering ceremonies this month, the best day is the 15th (full moon). The worst days are the 6th and 7th.
We apprectiate feedback from our customers; encouragement ,suggestions and constructive criticism.

We also appreciate photos of prayer flags on display, especially ones you got from us.
