This is a very dynamic time in the life of our organization. Within this newsletter, you will find information on the depth, breadth and impact of our work in 2018. We are very excited to celebrate another year of progress, growth and shared commitment as we move into our 120th year of providing vital social work and community services for children, youth and families. As one of Maine’s longest operating nonprofits, we continue to affirm our timeless mission, “to build and strengthen families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life.”

This newsletter is dedicated to all those who work every day to make life better for children and families. Children and families are facing more barriers and threats each day, which requires professional guidance to encourage, teach, mentor and show children and young people how much this organization, this community and the world does care. We are very proud of our staff members for their commitment, skills and respectful care of all who seek our support and guidance. They make so much of the impossible seem possible. We are all working to explore how to continue to do the most good works with existing resources and to continue to be responsive to urgent current community needs. We are pleased to be working as one of many partners in our community to support children, youth and families to achieve success. As we evolve as an organization, we are deeply thankful for these partnerships.

This quote speaks volumes about the vital role we each can play as mentors and caring partners for kids. "Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor." -Denzel Washington.

Thank you for being a mentor and a supporter. Because of you and hundreds of other mentors we have accomplished extraordinary things for over 3,000 children and families this past year in our six core programs. We appreciate all you do to help make life better for children and families each day.

Best wishes,
