2021 Tip Cards - Prevention of Child Abuse
This year’s three new tip cards target parents, teens and preteens, and young children; they provide information to help ease stress during unusual situations. The parenting tip cards are available electronically via NationalExchangeClub.org/cap> Downloadable Resources.
Exchange Clubs can download this year’s cards, as well as past cards, and share them with any individual, group, or organization that can utilize the information to support families and children. Consider contacting:
- Schools: Most schools have newsletters and publications for parents.
- Libraries, YWCAs, and YMCAs.
- Local newspapers.
- Local family organizations: Many communities have family resource centers, counseling centers, and shelters that share information electronically and are always looking for something helpful.
- Community websites.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month
|
|
Throughout the past year, Exchange Clubs have continued to implement projects to support their communities and Exchange Club Centers for the Prevention of Child Abuse. This momentum will undoubtedly continue during April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Below are some examples of what clubs will do this year:
- #ExchangeCares bags can be filled with comfort/necessary items for children in emergency situations, including homeless shelters and foster care situations.
-
Support your local Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse/Exchange Parent Aide Program; volunteer time, conduct a food drive, or organize a fundraiser/donation.
- Communicate with the director of your local Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, ask what they need and how your club can help.
- Electronic Tip Cards are available to be shared quickly and widely with any person, group, or organization that will benefit from them. This year’s new cards are accessible, as well as previous years’ cards.
- Plant a blue pinwheel garden to raise awareness and start conversations about prevention.
-
Blue Mondays are a compelling way to raise interest and awareness; organize Blue Mondays at your place of work, with your online meeting groups, and at home! Share a picture on social media using #BlueMondays, #PreventionOfChildAbuse, #ExchangeCares. Look for Blue Mondays shirts on the Exchange MarketPlace!
- Ask your mayor, city council, or governor to issue a National Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation.
- Be visible - write a 'letter to the editor' about the special interest month; arrange a PSA billboard/radio/television placement; stay active on social media!

C.A.R.E. (Child Abuse Reduction Effort) Awards
C.A.R.E. (Child Abuse Reduction Effort) Awards are presented annually at Exchange’s National Convention. They are given to Exchange Clubs, or groups of Exchange Clubs, that sponsor the most effective and far-reaching prevention of child abuse projects.
There are two categories of C.A.R.E. Awards:
- The project is related to an Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
- The project is related to a non-affiliated center for the prevention of child abuse.
Within each category, three outstanding C.A.R.E. Award winners will be chosen, based on club size: up to 29 members; 30-74 members; 75+ members.
Each winner will receive an award banner, a National Convention all-events package, and the opportunity to display their winning project at National Convention.
Clubs may also submit Exchange Strong Club Giving Campaign projects, and other prevention-related fundraising projects, on the C.A.R.E. Award nomination form. Each club that submits a C.A.R.E. Award nomination form will receive a C.A.R.E. Award banner patch. Applications are due by June 1.
Please note that only applications submitted through the electronic format will be accepted.
