January Hope-Mongering session topic:

The youngest T1Ds

This month, we are joined by Dr. Kara Connelly to focus on our youngest community members! This session is especially for parents of pre-camper age kiddos (0-6), but everyone is welcome.

Raising a young child with type 1 diabetes comes with a unique set of challenges. Developmentally, littles aren't quite ready to take on a lot of responsibility, small carb and insulin inputs make big impacts, and keeping other caregivers trained and engaged are just a few of the daily jobs parents of young T1Ds have.

Dr. Connelly is part of the pediatric endocrinology group at OHSU, dividing her time between diabetes clinics, general endocrinology clinics and the Doernbecher Gender Clinic. Join us for a discussion and some of Dr. Connelly's top takeaways for families of young ones.

Join us on January 19th at 7pm on Zoom. Bring your questions and experiences to share!

About Hope-Mongering:

Each month we recruit an array of key voices to host a series of conversations: parents, young adults who grew up with T1D, health coaches, educators, dietitians, T1D doctors and nurses, and of course the GCC summer camp crew. It's a magic formula for conversation on raising a young person with T1D. We'd love for you to join us and add your voice, or just sit back and listen. Feel free to bring topics or questions.
