Technology: Safety Benefits
It’s hard not to notice all of the technologically-advanced features that vehicles offer these days. It seems like most standard base models are equipped with more technology than some fighter jets! Not only do these features make for a better driving experience, they also help make that experience safer.

Many new and used vehicles on the roads today feature automatic braking systems and other crash-avoidance features. Manufacturers are focusing on expanding and improving safety systems.

2019 Toyota Highlander
The 2019 Toyota Highlander is a three-row crossover known for its passenger comfort, cargo space that’s beyond impressive, family safety, a strong V-6 and an impressive hybrid edition.

The styling was tweaked with more sharp angles last year, and the interior was improved, so the changes for 2019 are all cosmetic. The SE gets dark-tinted headlights, taillights, fog lights and wheels, while other models get black plastic rocker panels and some new contrasting chrome.

The Highlander earned five stars overall from the NHTSA for crash safety in 2018, with four stars in frontal crash and rollover. The IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick+. The Highlander leads its rivals in standard active safety equipment, including forward-collision warnings, full-speed automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and automatic high-beam headlights.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class really accentuates the “premium” in premium-compact-crossover SUV. Even among illustrious rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, the luxury factor of the GLC-Class puts it in its own little niche. Using the current C-Class platform as its foundation, the GLC-Class benefits from that built-in refinement, then seals the deal with a plush cabin and unruffled ride. In this review, we’re concentrating on the GLC300/GLC300 4Matic and the GLC350e plug-in hybrid.

Easy. That’s how the GLC-Class feels to drive. It seems smaller than it really is, because turning and maneuvering are accomplished with light and quick steering that’s nevertheless quite precise. The GLC300’s engine might be even more powerful than its 241-horsepower rating. It’s certainly strong and linear in its delivery, with plenty in reserve for overtaking or uphill stretches.

Herb Chambers is also proud to help support these organizations.
