November, 2018
Dear Friends,

I hope that you all had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. This year, it was easy for us to find things to be grateful for. We are grateful to live in a state and a nation that makes it possible for people to make a difference, to inspire others and strive for change, to speak their minds, and pursue their dreams. And, we are grateful to you and for the passion and commitment that we all share to strengthen and sustain our communities.

As we enter the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season, we are often asked "How can I get involved in my community? Where can I help?"

  • Volunteer at organizations like Open Table, Mt. Calvary Community Supper, Household Goods, Inc., or Charles River Watershed Association
  • Reach out to your local senior center to ask if you can help with any holiday events or meals
  • Donate to your local homeless shelter: contact South Middlesex Opportunity Council (508-872-4853) or Middlesex Human Services Agency (781-894-6110)
  • Hold a drive for your local food pantry, or organizations like Family Promise MetroWest, A Place To Turn in Natick, Circle of Hope, or Hope and Comfort
  • Donate warm winter coats in good, wearable condition for kids, adults, and babies to Coats for Kids. Drop-off locations are plentiful
  • Donate toys: Timothy’s Toy Box in Framingham, or Toys for Tots are currently collecting for children in need

These are just some of the ways that you can make a difference in MetroWest.

Warmly,
P.S. As 2018 comes to a close and you start to think about your year-end giving, please consider making a gift to the Foundation , to ensure our communities receive the support that they need and remain strong and vibrant; now and in the future.
Spotlight: The Robbins House – Concord’s African American History Museum
The Robbin's House completed their wayside and window exhibit with support from the Foundation for MetroWest, and we are so happy to have been a part of their project. The wayside includes a timeline of the long Civil Rights movement listing local, state and national events. The window exhibit is a thought provoking sculpture of Ellen Garrison, the civil rights activist born in the Robbins House. Both are compelling and thought provoking and we encourage you to visit.   Learn More.
