Consecration – Kindergarten and New Students to CSS Religious School

Consecration is the ceremony that welcomes new students at the start of their formal Jewish education. In addition, Consecration welcomes students of all ages who are new to our school. It is Jewish tradition, that as we celebrate the conclusion of the Torah reading cycle on Simchat Torah, so too, do we celebrate the beginning of a child’s Jewish education. On the morning of Simchat Torah these students receive a blessing from the Rabbi and Cantor, and a certificate and miniature Torah from the Congregation commemorating their entry into Jewish education.

This year, our service of Consecration will be held on Sunday morning, September 30, 2018 at 10:30 am. There will be a festive lunch following the service. Immediately prior to the service, there will be a formal class picture, which will be on permanent display in the school wing.

We will once again be joined by the Winiker Band to help us celebrate this milestone in our student’s lives with festive dancing during the service.

Welcome everyone -- with joy" ~ Sayings of the Fathers 1:15

The 2018 B'nai Mitzvah Season has begun at Congregation Sha'aray Shalom.
These beautiful Shabbat services are open to everyone. Watching our young congregants become a Bat or Bar Mitzvah is a source of pride for the whole Congregation Sha'aray Shalom Community! When we attend one of these Shabbat Services we support and celebrate the B'nai Mitzvah student's years of study, hard work and their and their family's commitment to this rich Jewish heritage and wonderful community. Our Students work hard to achieve this life cycle milestone, please come worship with them and wish them a heartfelt Mazel Tov on their special day!
