UGA is hosting their first home game of the season against Auburn this weekend!
Although game days may look different in the Classic City this year, there is still plenty of fun to be had! The Classic Center is partnering with the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau to invite all football fans to celebrate the season in a new way this year with an indoor, socially distant tailgate experience. GAMEDAY, Saturday, October 3rd, the Akins Ford Arena at The Classic Center will transform into a perfectly climate controlled football environment equipped with concessions, a full bar, tailgate games, and halftime entertainment for all. Get your tickets now!

The ATHENA Award honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishments, who excel in their chosen field and devote time and energy to their community.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, November 10th.
United Way 2020 Virtual Golf Tournament
United Way of Northeast Georgia's month-long Virtual Golf Tournament offers golfers an opportunity to play any local 18-hole golf course while supporting a local nonprofit. 
Players will receive a United Way scorecard in their inboxes after registering and are encouraged to take a photo or scan in their scorecard to be eligible for prizes. You can even play in another local tournament and use your scores from that to apply to your eligibility of prizes with our own Virtual Golf Tournament: it's a win-win, all for local causes! 
B Corps Workshop: The Why and How of Certifying as a Business with Purpose
Envision Athens, Athens-Clarke County’s Economic Development Department, local entrepreneur Jennifer Davidson, and Nathan Stuck of Ad Victoriam Solutions have organized a workshop on B Corps Certification on Thursday, October 22nd, 4-6 PM. Books for Keeps: Community Book Fair
Join Books for Keeps for a very different type of book shopping experience this year - their first ever Community Book Fair, taking place during the month of October!
 
Kicking off the morning of Tuesday, October 6th, the BFK Community Book Fair will offer free books to anyone who wishes to participate and observe the required safety guidelines:
- Masks required
- Must sign up for shopping appointment in advance
- 1 person per appointment
- Must be over 16 to shop
- Quick shopper orientation upon arrival
Stronger Business Summit
The Stronger Business Summit is a groundbreaking event happening at the Classic Center in Athens on October 8, 2020. The event will offer a live and virtual entrepreneur-based vendor fair, a distanced/virtual experience network party with live music and themed cocktails, and an amazing line-up of speakers. All Speakers will be in-person and on-site! This is an opportunity to learn from some of the most insightful speakers such as:

Georgia Chamber of Commerce: Future of Talent
Join the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and educational experts who will share how they are retraining, upskilling and preparing today’s workforce for the jobs and skills required in the New Georgia Economy.
FREE Virtual Legal Clinic for Veterans
The Georgia Veterans Outreach Project will host a free, virtual legal clinic on November 7, 2020, designed to make legal services accessible to veterans unable to travel at this time. Participants must pre-register. Registration will begin in early October. Veterans can participate by webcam or by phone. Veterans without access to phone or intent can also travel to locations in each region, where the Project will provide computers to connect with attorneys, as well as printers and scanners. Project staff will be available on site to provide help. Attorneys will participate remotely and provide quick advice and brief service on issues with special relevance to veterans, including veterans and military benefits and civil legal issues arising from the pandemic, such as shelter, employment, consumer, family, and other issues.

Bread for Life
The Fall 2020 session of Bread for Life is starting soon. They are a hospitality job training program for populations with barriers to employment, including addiction history [one + years clean/sober], criminal history, SNAP recipients and victims of domestic violence. The program is great for anyone who is ready for that next step in becoming self-sustainable. Please, share this with clients, friends and neighbors who qualify and are interested.
