Did You Know?

The Athens-Clarke County, GA Unified Government is seeking public input through Thursday, July 16th on possible uses for funds generated within proposed Tax Allocation Districts. A Tax Allocation District (TAD) is a redevelopment tool that uses the increased property taxes generated by new development in a designated redevelopment area to finance costs related to development including, but not limited to, public infrastructure, demolition, utilities, and planning costs.

With all events private, Escape The Space has greatly modified their onsite escape rooms to ensure safety. The creation of Zoom Room Escapes, the online version, also allows fun and interaction from home or your place of business. Good news: no matter where you are, you can still escape!

Our popular “Pancakes and Policy” breakfast meeting series will resume on Wednesday, July 29th with Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr as our featured guest for this virtual event. Attorney General Carr was elected into this office in November, 2016. His role is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution and laws of the State of Georgia and the interests of the people of the State of Georgia. He will discuss current legal issues faced by the State of Georgia, with particular emphasis on matters impacting economic development.

The meeting will last from 8:15 to 9:15. The cost to participate on the Zoom call is $25.00, which includes a $15.00 gift card to any Chamber member restaurant recognized on the registration page. We hope this will be a way to help support local restaurants who have been greatly impacted by COVID-19.
