We Are The Church

A word from the Christmas Collection for Chino Hills State Penitentiary
A great big thank you to all who helped and participated in the Christmas bag project for the women in prison at the California Institute for Women near Chino. 951 bags in 17 boxes were transported to the CIW on Wednesday and we heard on Thursday that they all passed inspection and were in the process of being distributed today. Some of you contributed items, some of you assembled bags, some did both and we appreciate all your efforts. It was truly an interfaith endeavor. We think the women also were pleased to be remembered. Please tell your members how grateful we all are!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and best wishes for the New Year!

This Week at Anaheim First Presbyterian

NO Bible Study

(Bible Study will resume in the New Year on January 4)

This Sunday!

Sunday, January 1 at 10:30 AM

When Christmas falls on a Sunday, then New Year's Day does as well. To celebrate the first day of 2023 we will gather around the Lord's Table to review the past year and embrace the new year as we share in a Love Feast, from the Moravian Church tradition. This service will not only feed our souls-it will feed our bodies since Carolee Ramich is baking homemade breads that we will eat as part of the service.

Pastor Kim will preach on

Scripture: Mark 12:28-34

Our journey of 40 Days of Prayer continues. It is not too late to join us!

As part of our congregational discernment process, we will be using the scripture-based prayer prompts from Sailboat Church by Joan Gray. Devotional booklets with all the prayer prompts are available for those who prefer or who do not have a copy of the book to use.

Childcare will be available.

New Year, New Office Hours!

Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

We give thanks for the life of Marilyn Worden. Marilyn was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. While recovering from surgery she encountered a number of complications that kept her at Anaheim Regional Hospital. On Monday, December 26 she suffered a heart attack and passed away. Marilyn was a gifted musician and a dedicated member of our choir. We give thanks to God for the gift of her life and we pray for her granddaughter, Stacy, as well as her many friends within our congregation and beyond, during this time of loss.

We give thanks for William Thode's (Ruth Dorman's brother-in-law) recovery. Ruth's sister sent this update and thank you:

"He’s doing very well. He only has trouble with stroke symptoms, (his left arm/hand, running and speech) when he’s tired. Otherwise, he’s pretty much back to normal. Please thank the church for us. We know the power of prayer affected his recovery mightily!"

Please pray for Clif Buchanan who injured his knee. He is recovering at his son's home.

Please pray for those in treatment for cancer: Catherine Morris, Rosemary Ford, Bill Anderson (Bruce Anderson's Brother).

Please pray for those on hospice: Patricia Carl, Dave Maresh (Glory's brother), O.D. Taylor (Harvey's brother)

Please continue to pray for the health of: Jeanine (Glory's former mother-in-law), Norma Leichtweis, Dave Maresh, Marilyn Worden, Clif Buchanan, William Thode (Ruth Dorman's brother in law), Jane Canfield (Glory's sister), Chris Coleman.

If you have a prayer request that you would like to add to our prayer list,

please contact the church office: offices@anaheimfirstpres.org or 714.535.2176.
