The Rev. Chineta Goodjoin, Preaching

Rev. Chineta Goodjoin grew up in Gaffney, SC. At an early age, she was active in her church as a youth leader, liturgist and elder. She did not realize at the time that her call to ministry was being nurtured.

Rev. Goodjoin received a Master of Divinity degree from Johnson C. Smith Seminary of Interdenominational Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduating, Rev. Goodjoin received a call to serve as Associate Pastor of Knox Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, CA. After two years of service at Knox, Rev. Goodjoin was invited to organize a new Presbyterian Church in Orange County, California. She accepted this call and is currently serving as Organizing Pastor of New Hope Presbyterian Church within the Los Ranchos Presbytery of Orange County.

Prior to being called to seminary, Rev. Goodjoin was a Speech-Language Pathologist for Gwinnett County Schools in Georgia, and Cherokee County Schools in South Carolina. Rev. Goodjoin has a Master of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from South Carolina State University.

Rev. Goodjoin has preached nationwide, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and she has won several preaching awards. Her sermon, "At the Feet of Jesus" is published in The African-American Pulpit magazine. She has a story telling preaching style that is set on a foundation of faith and trust in God Almighty. Rev. Goodjoin is married to Reginald Goodjoin, who is the Music Director at New Hope Presbyterian Church.

Upcoming Events

New Series Starts April 28

Take My Heart: Embracing Resurrection Faith With Peter

During Lent and Easter, we sought to figure out our faith with Peter and his wandering heart. Some days he was daring and faithful, while at other moments, he stumbled and allowed his confusion to lead him in the wrong direction. After Jesus' resurrection, things changed. He was still far from perfect, but he experienced Christ's forgiveness and renewed call, and at Pentecost received the gift of the Holy Spirit. With a post-resurrection perspective and the Spirit's transformative power at work in his life, he was able to offer his wandering heart to God and live into a faith that changed his life.

On Sunday, April 28, we will continue our journey with Peter as he experiences faith after resurrection. We will be invited to join him in offering our hearts to Jesus and living our faith as Easter People.

Lunch Bunch - April 28

Anyone who wishes is invited to join in going out to lunch following worship.

Gathering of Spirits - May 8

Join us at 5:45 pm at Windsor Browns for a time when our spirits encounter God’s Spirit in spirited discussion on wide ranging topics.

Giving

Please consider making a special donation toward Per Capita.

As part of a connectional church we pay per capita apportionment per member to support the work of the larger Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This year the amount is $40.65 and will be divided between Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly. Every Presbyterian shares in the benefit of the PC (USA)'s system of government, so every Presbyterian is asked to share the expenses associated with coordinating and performing the functions of that system. Please consider making this special offering, You may add it to your regular offering, but please make a note that the donation includes an offering to per capita.

We are greatly deeply grateful for the financial support of the congregation.
We are in the midst of a challenging year with no school leasing the Calvin Building and following two years of disrupted giving patterns due to Covid.

For those who worship with us in person,
Offering Plates will be available at the back of the Sanctuary on Sundays

Donations may also be mailed to the church office:
