We Are the Church!

Welcome to God's World, Madison Sophia Schubert.

Madison was born to former choir interns, Kendall and Tim Schubert on June 2 at 8:18pm. She weighed 7 pounds 1 oz and was 20 inches long. All are doing well and Kendall says that she has already made their hearts grow 100 times the size!

However, as any parent knows, those first weeks with your first child can be a bit overwhelming. To help Tim, Kendall, and Madison adjust to life as a family of three, Tim's sister has organized a meal train for the family.

This Sunday!

Sermon: Embracing Change to Make Room For All

Scripture: Acts 15:1-11

During Lent and Easter, we sought to figure out our faith with Peter and his wandering heart. Some days he was daring and faithful, while at other moments, he stumbled and allowed his confusion to lead him in the wrong direction. After Jesus' resurrection, things changed. He was still far from perfect, but he experienced Christ's forgiveness and renewed call, and at Pentecost received the gift of the Holy Spirit. With a post-resurrection perspective and the Spirit's transformative power at work in his life, he was able to offer his wandering heart to God and live into a faith that changed his life.

This Sunday, we will continue our journey with Peter as he experiences faith after resurrection. We will be invited to join him in offering our hearts to Jesus and living our faith as Easter People.

About the Book: In the overlooked moments and routines of our day, we can become aware of God's presence in surprising ways. How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred? Framed around one ordinary day, this book explores daily life through the lens of liturgy, small practices, and habits that form us. Each chapter looks at something―making the bed, brushing her teeth, losing her keys―that the author does every day. Drawing from the diversity of her life as a campus minister, Anglican priest, friend, wife, and mother, Tish Harrison Warren opens up a practical theology of the everyday. Each activity is related to a spiritual practice as well as an aspect of our Sunday worship.

Contact Pastor Kim if you would like her to order a copy for you. The church will provide a physical or digital copy. Those who wish may make a donation to cover the cost. You can find more information on the book or order a copy on your own at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2GWBNM/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title.

Giving

Please consider making a special donation toward Per Capita.

As part of a connectional church we pay per capita apportionment per member to support the work of the larger Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This year the amount is $40.65 and will be divided between Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly. Every Presbyterian shares in the benefit of the PC (USA)'s system of government, so every Presbyterian is asked to share the expenses associated with coordinating and performing the functions of that system. Please consider making this special offering, You may add it to your regular offering, but please make a note that the donation includes an offering to per capita.

Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not regretfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
