2024 Scrub Seal Project

It is best if traffic drives slowly (20 mph or less) for several days after the scrub seal layer has been applied (i.e., gravelly rock mix). The roadway will have loose gravel on it until it is swept 3 to 7 days after the scrub seal.

The final "fog seal" layer will be applied after the scrub seal has had at least three days to cure. This final layer can oftentimes be sticky - please use caution when driving, biking, walking, skating, and/or rollerblading on any fresh coats of sealants.

Chelan County Seeks public input on updated Hazard Mitigation Plan

Thursday, October 3, 2024

6pm

Council Chambers at City Hall

The planning team for the Chelan County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update invites the community to review the draft plan and provide feedback by attending upcoming open houses, exploring the project’s online maps, and participating in a public survey.

The HMP outlines the county’s vulnerabilities to natural hazards and details various strategies and projects designed to reduce risks. While natural disasters cannot be stopped, proactive mitigation efforts can help communities become more resilient, protecting lives and property while promoting long-term sustainability.

An open house will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Leavenworth City Hall, 700 Highway 2. A 14-day public comment period for the draft plan will run from Oct. 3 to Oct. 17. The draft plan will be available for review starting Oct. 3 on the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan webpage.

The webpage also features a project story map that provides in-depth and interactive maps and information on natural hazards within Chelan County, along with a hazard mapper tool that allows users to explore specific risk areas. More details can be found at: https://www.co.chelan.wa.us/natural-resources/pages/natural-hazard-mitigation-plan.

The public is also encouraged to take a survey to help guide updates to the County’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The draft CWPP is currently in development and will be ready for public comment in January 2025.
